The government now says salaries for all civil servants have been processed. Speaking in Eldoret deputy president William Ruto sought to assure civil servants that there was no reason to panic as the challenges that caused the delay have now been dealt with. This comes in the wake of fears among county leaders that the central government could be planning to withhold until January next year about 70 billion shillings meant for functions devolved to county governments on the grounds that county governments are not yet ready to execute those functions.
