My Sister Banned Me From Her Wedding, Claiming Her Fiancé Has Feelings For Me. Now He’s Refusing To Marry Her Over It.
--------
In this story, Michelle (20F) shares her turbulent family history and how her sister Emily’s wedding drama ultimately led her to break free from a toxic family dynamic. Michelle had always felt like the black sheep in her family, overshadowed by Emily (25F), the “golden child” favored by their parents. Michelle's struggles with social anxiety, misunderstood and dismissed by her family, had led her to distance herself from them over time. The turning point came when Emily falsely accused Michelle of attempting to "steal" her fiancé, Jonathan (25M), after noticing Jonathan was polite and attentive toward Michelle at a family gathering.

The situation escalated when, shortly before the wedding, Jonathan confronted Emily over her treatment of Michelle, declaring he wouldn’t marry into a family that ostracized one of their own. Emily begged Michelle to lie and cover up her accusations, but Michelle refused, finally asserting her boundaries. Jonathan called off the wedding, recognizing the toxic family behavior Michelle had endured for years.

Emily’s response was relentless harassment, including vandalism and threats, all of which Michelle documented with the help of Reddit advice. Legal action followed, with Emily facing criminal charges, a restraining order, and a civil settlement. Michelle’s parents sided with Emily, but Michelle, empowered by Reddit support and therapy, realized she could no longer chase her family’s approval.

Now free from their influence, Michelle has transformed her life, focusing on her career and forming a chosen family. This journey taught her the power of setting boundaries and the importance of self-respect over toxic family loyalty.

And you know Johnathan is probably telling EVERYBODY he knows about his crazy ex and her parents and how they abused Op, and how lucky he was not to marry into that.

Why would she even wanna marry a guy she THINKS has feelings for her sister? Weirdo

The parents are bullies, who raised a bully like them. OP should be happy she's not like them. Being the scapegoat atleast has some advantage in that regard. You atleast get to be recognize their awful behaviour and be a good person.

Finally, a story that actually sounds real instead of the novel-like stories.
Happy for Michelle. And happy for the guy who cancelled the wedding, he's a good guy.

The parents were not used to seeing OP treated with general respect that they thought that someone treating her in a respectful manner as someone suspicious

“Emily’s always lived in her own world.”

Exactly. She couldn’t understand the fact that she wasn’t the center of the universe for someone that she really cared about. Children can never truly have an equal relationship with their parents, and she alienated and abused the one person who could have been her equal. Her fiancee evidently DID NOT want a piece of that action.

It makes sense that an "outsider" like Johnathan would see how OP was treated and reconsider being a part of the family. Most people wouldn't want to marry someone who mistreats a sibling or family member for no reason. It's just a shame anyone would listen to this story and either victim blame OP or side with Emily for just having a conversation with Johnathan 🤦🏽‍♂️ (also the theory that Johnathan loved OP: if that was true he would've reconnected with OP after breaking off the engagement).

Also the social anxiety and OP's behavior makes sense since the family have always been bullies. If you have negative experiences with your own family, the first people who are supposed to love you, then how can you handle interactions with others?

So this might be one of the only times that the background video took my totally out of the story but that pink frosting cake just looked disgusting and hurt my teeth to watch...

This is so beyond fucked up. They will call her on the night of the rehearsal wedding when they know full well that she's not there, not coming to the wedding because they all agreed not to invite her. But yet they're still close enough to call her. These people don't understand no contact

“You must visit The Location, immediately”. I know it’s probably redacted to remain anonymous; but it sounds like OP is a sleeper agent and the Dad is actually their handler and is trying to activate them to carry out the mission.

Spoiler alert: the sister is enacting narcissistic abuse and the parents are enabling/participants it 💀

If you think your partner has feelings for someone else
WHY ARE YOU STILL GONNA MARRY HIM!

Were I OP: When Emily said "I'm not inviting you to the wedding". I'd have said "OK, bye." and hung up.

Jonathan left her because of the way Emily treats OP not because OP didn't go to the dinner

Wouldn't it be funny if the OP was actually a lesbian this whole time 😂

I see how Emily can think op is trying to take her man but on the other hand op is not trying to do that and Emily’s man could just be a good person and might want to just include op because her actually sees how abused she is😢

The parents and emily are such bullies to op that they thought Johnathan treating op with basic courtesy was hik flirting with her 😭

I would’ve gone to that location, tell Johnathan about what Emily asked in front of my family’s faces and then leave bluntly.

I'm so glad someone was kind to OP and that the man who would have been her BIL saw the FOREST THROUGH THE TREES on how they treated the poor thing I pray he's found someone more deserving of his LOVE and GENEROSITY and good on OP for getting the best revenge living her best life
