Thanks Mark for being on top of these things. Now if SIM Innovations would update their KnobFS software so I can use my Knobster with msfs 2024. It has been an invaluable tool for flying in VR.

Thanks for this Mark. Still gotta throw the book at Aerosoft, forcing users to register an account just to get the download link has to be a joke...

I bought an old knackered Saitek Yoke and Quadrant set.
The first thing I did was to instal a Leo Bodnar Analogue /Digital converter card. The card has 4 Analogue 0 - 5 Vdc inputs for Potentiometers and 8 digital inputs for two or three position switches.
The OE Saitek yoke software gave a enormous 'dead zone' in center. The Bodnar card gives a smooth increase from limit to limit.

The Aeroplane I fly is the IRIS Grob 115, which has a Quadrant on the centre console 45 Degs rear to 45 degs forward. I positioned the saitek quadrant at a 45 deg angle to simulate the Grob.

In VR, it doesn't matter what the controllers look like as long as they are in the correct postion, have the same movement and do the same function.

For the Grob, which has a centre stick with one press button, I have lashed up to the Saitek yoke, a vertical piece of tubing which has a press-button on the top, wired to one of the Bodnar digital inputs. The tube has a bicycle handlebar grip on it :-)

Also on the yoke, I have strapped a 25W surface shaker. A 50mm diameter vibration Haptic actuator. It is driven from the second channel off the amplifier board which is driving the Bass Shacker under my chair.
The shaker on the yoke does two things. 1, it gives a vibration through the stick, and 2, it elliminates stickyness in the yoke travelways and gearing to the axis potentiometers.

Flying the Grob is as close to the real thing as can be. Of course, instrument switches and adjustments are with the mouse, but this hardly detracts from the immersion.
Performing manouvers has a very similar hand sensation. I just have to keep one eye on the artificial horizon, ASI and VSI.

I have a Vive Pro 2, which Steve at VRFlightSimGuy has recommended NOT to buy. I find nothing wrong with it. 2448 x 2448 per eye driven by a MSI 4070ti. i9 13900k CPU. 32 Gbt RAM. 45 fps solid.
Buy from Amazon, because they have a 'no quibble' returns policy. I had to return a MSI Motherboard. No problems.

Took them a while but it's really great now! Although I'm still not a huge fan of the annunciator panel - I mean, I can see it in the plane on my monitor, why would I look down on my quadrant to look at it there? But maybe it'll grow on me.
