‘Dear friend’: Joe Biden reflects on friendship with Jimmy Carter

United States President Joe Biden has addressed the media after the death of his “dear friend” James ‘Jimmy’ Earl Carter Junior.
“Today America and the world in my view have lost a remarkable leader,” President Biden said.
“Jill and I lost a dear friend. I’ve been hanging out with Jimmy Carter for over 50 years.
“What I find extraordinary about Jimmy Carter though is that millions of people all around the world feel they’ve lost a friend as well.”
Mr Carter lived to be 100 years old, making him the longest-living former United States president.
Mr Carter’s son, Chip Carter, confirmed his father’s passing on Sunday local time.
