French automaker Renault collaborated with American design studio TheArsenale to create a single-person eVTOL aircraft called AIR4 in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Renault 4 (also known as the 4L), the world's first mass-produced hatchback car and one of the most long-lived cars in history.
Powered by 22,000mAh lithium polymer batteries, the AIR4 has a carbon fiber body that sits in the center of four two-blade propellers with a total vertical thrust of 838 pounds (380 kg). The company claims it can fly at an altitude of 2,300 feet (700 m) and reach a horizontal speed of 85 ft/s (26 m/s).
The AIR4 is currently on display at the Atelier Renault on the Champs Elysées in Paris. Miami, New York, and Macau are its future destinations in 2022.
