I'm not normally good at noticing things like this, but the "Legolas walking on top of the snow" was very deliberately shown, that it seems out of place on this list.

In ROTK the army attacking minas tirith was going to feature a lot more easterlings like the ones you see at the black gate. The orcs were also going to be smaller than men, les armoured and the easterlings would be the more elite part of the army. In the end they dropped the idea and redesigned the orcs to be more of a "uniform" with a dragon scale like armour, red clothes and the easterlings completely cut. But some scenes were stil filmed and used in the movie. Al the scenes when they attack minas tirith at night with the catapults you can see easterlings in the background standing among the orcs and when the gate is breached you can also see a formation of easterlings behind the horde of orcs coming through the gate.

kind of weird that Gandalf wouldn't return the gesture since he's such a close friend with elves, more than any other wizard

Fun little detail you missed

Gandalfs ring Narya (the ring of fire) within the story is hidden.
So throughout the movies the viewer cannot see a ring on his finger.

That is until the one ring is destroyed, all the elven rings lose their magic and so all scenes afterwards you can see Gandalfs ring of fire

Note that in Helmsdeep Legolas shoots one of his own arrows to kill the torch-uruk, but the impact is with one of the Galadrim-elf arrows

So basically Aragorn basically looted Boromir saying "LOL FREE BRACERS"

A special lighting rig was used for close-ups of Cate Blanchett; as Galadriel had seen the light of the Two Trees, it was decided that her eyes should have an 'otherness' that was more than the usual Elven contact lenses.

Question is HOW did you NOT notice Legolas walking on the snow?

Love these details. I've seen these movies more times than I can count, and I still notice new details each watch through. I knew none of these

That blessing thing in 1:29 ... strange that Gandalf did not know about that?

When i first noticed that Aragorn had taken Boromir's bracers (I was really young then), I initially thought: "Wait a minute, did he just steal them from him? What an asshole!" Now, I can see it more clearly as a gesture of honoring Boromir's memory, but you could also interpret it as Aragorn simply selfishly looting Boromir's corpse.

Gandalf's staff is kind of a story itself, the pipe staff was with him from the beginning of FotR until he was held captive by Saruman and that staff was confiscated.
Then after he escaped he managed to get a new almost identical one which he slotted in a crystal on the tip when entering Moria, and he lost it during the fight with Balrog.
And later when he returned as Gandalf the White we see him with another new white staff that bears a resemblance to elvish motif, and it accompanied him up until he was confronted with the witch king during the defence of Minas Tirith and was shredded into pieces.
And at some point later he somehow regained an identical one as we can see when they bid their farewell in Grey Havens.
Then we're back to the pipe staff, and turns out it once belonged to Radagast and was given to Gandalf after his very first one burned into ashes when he engaged the Necromancer in Dol Guldur.

Great video! The details with the eye of Sauron on the Nazgûl were really cool. The only one I noticed was probably the one we’re Legolas does not sink in the snow.

Gandalf being associated with the elves for centuries, should have know how to return the eleven blessing, so either it was reserved to elves or as a Maiar, he has no need to receive a blessing from an elf.

I did notice the bracelets, but it’s very telling that they’re meant to help bring him into battle with him. As a way to help the new king of men ascend to the heights he needed to.

How about Karl Urban staying in character when his sword fell out of its sheath? Or is that well known too?

Aragorn is also part of a half elf family so that's also why he returns the gesture
