When the parties reach an impasse during a mediation there is a tool known as the mediator’s number that may bring the parties to a resolution.  A mediator’s number allows the parties to remain at the last offer/demand if the number is not accepted by both sides. The other benefit to the mediator’s number is that the parties do not know if the other side accepted the number because it is confidential unless both sides agree to the number.  In this video I explain a bit more about how it works.
