What people don't know is that humans are not part of a cheetahs menu. There's never been a single human fatality by a cheetah. If one approached you, it's simply because of curiosity, and want pets and scratches. They are literally large house cats. Only the cheetah can "meow" like a domesticated house cat while others do not. They are easy to train and people do keep them as pets overseas. They are extremely affectionate as you see here in the video. They don't have a good bite force so they don't rely on strength like tigers or lions or leppards do, they rely on speed which they can't maintain long. Doing so they could dangerously overheat and die. Although they have a high successful hunting rate, they will give up chase to prevent overheating and start again after much needed rest

If nature ever 'built' an animal designed by nature to be a 'pet', it would be the cheetah. They relate to people almost like dogs. They are not powerful cats, they do not have a very strong bite force and their claws are not any sharper than those of a large dog since they do not retract like all other cats. They give up all of the 'cat' characteristics in order to be able to run faster than any other land animal and all of this renders them to actually be somewhat fragile, easily injured or killed by lions, leopards, hyenas, wild boars and even so many of the animals they have to try to hunt.
