Before Euro-Americans migrated to California wildfires were much more frequent, but smaller. Native Americans started wildfires to clear land to their advantage for 19, 000 years. The first Spanish to arrive in Alta California wrote about fires and thick smoke seen in the San Francisco Bay Area. Brush and scrub forests grew overgrown during the 170 years after the California Gold Rush. Climate change (both natural and man-made) made droughts worse and drove species like the bark beetle further north resulting in dying forests and more fuel for wildfires. People are leaving the cities, suburbs and towns to build homes and to live cheaply in attractive, but high-risk scrub forests. No, politicians are not telling you the whole story about California wildfires.

there's must be smth we can do to stop fires in the future, like invest more to wildfires defense or smth idk I'm not good at this, but it's heartbreaking to see how such beautiful places being destroyed and seeing Americans struggle... Stay strong West Coast and rip to this poor child and his grandmother...
