Fun Fact: If you have good enough PC you can crash youtube with subtitles by just turning them on. You just have to spam one letter or multiple. And you can crash youtube! Only, you need at least 1.5M-2M Letters to do this. But I've already seen videos saying they can crash youtube with just subtitles. And it worked!

Fun fact: in YouTube in the TV, you can customize your subtitles however you want with different fonts and colors.

I've known this ever since I started editing my subtitles on YouTube. Subtitle makers use a subtitle editing software to edit the subs with flashy cool effects and upload the custom subs to the YouTube video.

Funnily enough I found about this the other day when viewing a channel that was testing out using custom fonts, shaking text, different sizes, etc in the YouTube captions. I think captions might start getting some more love than it ever did.

First, it's not an easter egg, it's just a feature in subtitles. Second, I've known about this for years, since I've seen it in some youtube videos from years ago. I know grian has used the different colors feature to differentiate all the hermits, and I've seen other videos with subtitles in custom positions and colors. It's not new by no means.

However that first video you showed, I hadn't seen that before, but dam, that was very impressive. I could barely tell what was subtitles and what wasn't.

I actually recently made a video with colored captions. It also features gradient text (just change each individual letter to do it). Had some issues but overall, it's pretty easy.

i first learned about this is 2023 when i was watching a video about a plushie and saw yellow text, i downloaded the subtitles then started edting then testing then i knew about the thing and now im happy to see that other than hololive know about it

Captions are not only black and white, you can go to Video > Settings > Subtitles > Options, This allows you to change the appearance of the captions like changing the colors. But unfortunately, you can't change the captions that you displayed except for the black and white one.
