'Corous' - The New Heart of Cone

Ruth Fisher (Cone Health) and Cheryl Stewart (Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro) talk with us about a striking new sculpture has been installed at Moses Cone Hospital, bringing a vibrant and meaningful addition to the hospital’s landscape. The piece, titled “Corous”, derives its name from the Latin word for "heart," symbolizing both unity and strength.

“Corous” features two halves of a heart, crafted from slim tubular steel connected at the base. Starting on October 17, the sculpture will illuminate in radiant hues of pink, purple, and red, creating a beacon of hope and healing each night.

The sculpture was created to reflect the hospital’s Heart and Vascular Care Center, as well as the Women’s and Children's Center, embodying the themes of new life and wellness.

Positioned near the hospital’s new Heart and Vascular Center, the installation is designed to be an approachable and engaging piece for patients, staff, and the broader community. As a collaboration with Cone Health Philanthropy and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, “Corous” stands not only as a symbol of health but also as a testament to the power of community partnership
