Thank you very much ❤. I send after the yellow book and hope it will work well for me 😊. It was a very nice video, I liked that you showed parts in them.

I did buy The Book Of Thoth by Aleister Crowley which is really heavy but it is in his words. I plan on reading it a little bit at a time. Thank you for this video I love to see how people like to learn Thoth.

Thank you for showing these :) I was given three so didn't do my normal researching but the one that I did buy was the DuQuette one and I don't regret that purchase at all, I'll check these out, but I'm like you and I don't prefer a LOT of text on one thing, I only have 1 tarot reference book, for example. I try to find the best works in the smallest number so that I can focus on really absorbing the information and then getting in and working with the actual system.

You seem to imply that in some way Lon Duquette's presentation of Crowley might be questionable! I really don't know where you are getting your information from. I wonder what you base that opinion on, because in my opinion Lon's is the best introduction to the Thoth tarot and very faithful to the understanding of tarot as revealed in Crowley's Book of Thoth and Liber 777 etc. You open up with comments about people who really know Crowley? I wonder who those people are! Do you realise that Lon is a leading member of the O.T.O and certainly a Crowley expert.

Tarot- at least from Crowley's point of view is not really about divination, the cards are pictorial representations of the western mysteries; Hermeticism/Qabalah/Alchemy/ The great work. Crowley had nothing against tarot being used for divination, it's just not it's primary purpose.

Lon's book is an excellent introduction to the Thoth tarot from a purely Crowley point of view. It's the only Thoth tarot book that I have seen, except for The Book of Thoth, that clearly tells you that each of the small cards, (excluding Aces), rules one decan of the zodiac, or that the court cards rule three decans of the zodiac (excluding Princesses). You will learn that Knights predominate in the mutable signs, Queens predominate in the cardinal signs and Princes predominate in the fixed signs.

You also learn that the court cards (excluding Princesses) adopt the last decan of the previous sign, as well as predominating in the first two decans of their primary zodiacal sign. Thus the Queen of Wands rules the last decan of Pisces, the mutable sign of water and the first two decans of Aries, the cardinal sign of fire (10 of cups and 2 and 3 of Wands).

You will learn that the 2, 3, 4's of the small cards are the cardinal signs of the zodiac, that the 5, 6, 7's are the fixed signs of the zodiac, and that the 8 '9 '10's are the mutable signs of the zodiac.

What about the formula of יהוה ( YHVH) and all the correspondences which connect to that great name and formula, such as, The four elements, The four Qabalistic worlds, the four Qabalistic parts of the soul, The four court cards - The Knight, The Queen, The Prince, The Princess- The four suits etc. All of this is fundamental to the tarot universe and fundamental to the universe; spiritual and physical. It is comprehensively explained in Lon’s excellent book.

Do you know what the three alchemical principles of Sulphur, Mercury, and Salt- a story told by The Magus, The Empress and the Emperor- represent and how when they are perfectly balanced they produce V.I.T.I.R.O.L ? You will do when you read his book!

Duquette's understanding of Qabalah and the whole system of the tree of life - how it relates to tarot and to ourselves as well as the subject of the Holy Guardian Angel and how he relates to tarot and ourselves- are dealt with clearly, and masterfully.

This is a book that opens up the inner mechanics of the tarot. For example; all the small cards, of all the suits and their respective trees of life and Qabalistic worlds and Sephiroth, all ultimately live in the Ace of Wands- the Kether of Kethers- just like all the Qabalistic worlds and their respective trees of life and Sephiroth really live within us and that we are already in Kether but our consciousness hasn't ''realised'' it, (yet)! It is therefore a deeply spiritually book.
.
Lon; in the guise of Rabbi Ben Clifford, informs us that- ''The you that you think is you is not you but a dream you. You are the King of the universe who has fallen asleep and is dreaming he is a Queen, who has fallen asleep and is dreaming she is a Prince, who has fallen asleep and is dreaming he is a Princess''- All in all an excellent and very readable book.

I'm currently reading Lon's book which is fantastic -- thanks for covering the other two books. It's so interesting hearing you in 2016. I wonder if you've any further updated thoughts on these. I'll have to check out your Qabalah book... I have only read Lon's one.

Love this video. I have heard DuQuette's book was a good book. I am really happy other people are starting to get into the more esoteric decks. I have several Thoth decks and Thoth inspired decks. I look forward to watching other videos about this system. xx

I did some research on the Thoth Tarot a while back and as far as I remember DuQuette's book was the most popular one due to being fairly approachable (in terms of explaining the system), and there were some contradictory opinions on its value. But the same can be said about pretty much anything, and as you said, one needs to start somewhere. I really hope one day I will feel I have enough time and energy to dedicate to the study of this system, as I don't believe it's a matter of just getting the deck, reading a bit about it and a week later you're ready to go ;) And the Qabalah, yeah, not something I feel like taking on at this point.

I love Lon Milo Duquette's book - I think there's a newer edition since the one I have, so it would be interesting to see what's different. I'm keen to check out the Banzhaf...

Thank you for this video and the one on the Marseille Tarot books for beginners; I was actually going to post the question to the facebook group, now I don't have to. :) I'm curious, what are the Waite-Smith books you would recommend. Thank you.
