It's crazy how many times Germany was absolutely destroyed, yet it comes again from the ashes and becomes Europe's strongest economy every time.

Seeing Poland, Sweden and Belgium pop up was cool. China's growth and USA's dominance are just absolutely insane

I really like the incorporation of historical states and their flags! It makes these comparisons much more interesting than rankings that just use modern states.

It's crazy how Japan was almost catching up USA in the 80s, and how rich Italy was in '87 when I was born. Now I can see how my dad managed to build an immense house with an average job lmao

Fantastic. Would love to see some historical events included to explain some of the GDP growth and decline.

Germany is actually really impressive, even when they fall they quickly get back up and goes at it again hard.

America’s ability to constantly hold the top position, Japan, China, and the Soviet Union’s growth, and Germany’s many comebacks were by the far the most impressive things on this list imo

Just a thought: for UK and France you appear to have ignored the GDP of their empires, yet with other empires you have included it. That means the pre-50s/60s GDP for UK and France is under reported, and it also doesn't show just what impact the loss of their territories had on their overall economies.
