I actually have a hack, But ive never told this. Before changing the value, turn on airplane mode. Then, while airplane mode is active, change the value. After that, turn airplane mode off. The server will update the value and therefore you will have you changed value saved across the server. A but of a hack, does not work all the time, but it works sometimes.

Online games generally have the values stored server sided, the one and only trick to possibly find a workaround - which won't work everywhere - is to step-in when something is handled locally. Auto Heroes for example stores it's currencies online yet events are time based (local time that is) and also ingame encounters such as the shop npc that gives 2 offers can be used to turn the currency you pay with into negative value in order to turn a negative into a double negative (positive) value upon the final adjustment done to the own currency value, resulting in properly increasing the own values without it being visual only. The majority of games won't allow that but there are quite a lot of games that still do allow that way of modifying the numbers this way.
So yes, online games can be modified properly, just not all of them and you often have to find out when & where to change things in order to get that advantage you're looking for.

I remember in the Minecraft shooting game where you had to build your gun out of blocks and face another player and destroy blocks withing a timer. I could set my scores value to like 10, 000 and just freeze it and it stayed between rounds and new players. I used to just wait till the very last second and destroy a single block 😂 (for the record, I couldn't be beaten without cheating but it's a bit fun to troll)

It can work in online games, but the steps is complicated

ive noticed that online games that use fake values usually have an offset or encrypted value hiding behind an equation to show you a fake value. However some things will all be in fake value for currency. Another thing ive noticed is if there is a session score before you get a reward you can alter your score mid session to get a better reward after.

Online games can be hacked. Just find a variable that is stored in the game files and not on the server and change it. E.g.: Side values like quest rewards or character speed are not saved on the server but are encrypted. You simply need to know how to change the value correctly.

There are some kind of games that you can play bolth online and offline. When you play it offline you just can freely play. When the internet connection enabled, then the progress be synced and save in servers. Ubisoft's Hungry Shark is this kind of game. How to deal with this kind of games???
