Algebra: Factor ax^2+bx+c Fast and Easy

Here we discuss the easy and fast way, for me, to factor ax^2+bx+c.
This method could be faster than box method, guess-and-check method, or diamond method (or ac method) with factoring by grouping, and can be used to find the roots of (factorable) quadratic equations quickly.

This is the same as slide-and-divide factoring technique but be careful when the terms have a common factor. For example: if we apply slide and divide immediately for 4x^2+2x-6 then we get x^2+2x-24=(x+6)(x-4)
(x+6/4)(x-4/4)
(x+3/2)(x-1)
(2x+3)(x-1)
but the last expression is not equal to the original trinomial.

The good point in my video is that you know that ax^2+bx+c=a(x+M/a)(x+N/a), and this will give you a trick in solving quadratic equations.

Thanks for this video. Is this the same as slide and divide factoring technique?

I hated doing this, I hated trial and error and I always knew there had to be a practical way of solving this. This formula is so convenient, thank you.

Nice thanks for the help. I was getting really frustrated doing trial and error over and over and over again until I got it right and it took forever. With this in mind, I will probably enjoy this now.

Do the products and sum have to be in order ? Like 8 and 9, should they be in an order.

can you tell me what to do with a quadratic that is in the form of ax^2 +bx=c and how do you put that into the quadratic? Some problems either add with a + or minus and I dont understand WHEN to use one or the other. 😎
