The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

What I absolutely love about this channel is that Russell and Wilt get the respect they deserve.

Best defender in NBA history. Hands down.

And Russell was formidable leaper. In 1956, he set a record of 6'9.25" in high jumps before the Fosbury Flop technique was popularized.

People compare Bill Russell to Dennis Rodman and I see the comparison but what people need to know is that every team was established and he was a good piece Detroit had Isaiah and the Bulls had MJ. As soon as Russell came in the Celtics went below average to championships to say he was valuable is an understatement. He was a game changer in everything he did

As far a defensive player awards, counting steals, all defense teams, and a 3 point Jerry West video and what could have been when they counted steals etc. would be

Bill Russell is so under appreciated.

Everybody always criticises Russell for his lack of scoring and his HOF team mates as if the Celtics won because they had a dominant offense.

They fail to realise that the Celtics never even had an above average offense in ANY of their 11 championships seasons with Russell. They dominated teams with suffocating defense and Russell was their defensive superstar.

His defensive impact is also obvious from the numbers. Not only does he lead in all-time defensive winshares by a mile but the Celtics were also clearly much worse without him. In his rookie season the Celtics defensive rating improved by more than six points and instantly became the best in the league. They remained the best defensive team in the league for Russell's entire career and when he retired the defensive went by 6 points again. In the few games Russell missed the celtics also didn't peform great. They're 25-25 without Russell: merely average.

I know you love Wilt but for me Russell is the greatest of that era.

Our younger friends don’t understand how Nike’s billion dollar marketing campaigns have clouded their perception of who the greatest NBA players are. Thank you for the video

Jonny, thanks again for keeping some shine on NBA Legends!!
My dad is is in his 70's, so he grew up mostly "listening" to NBA games during the Celtic 60's era. His very experienced opinion is simply Bill Russell, Jim Brown (Cleveland RB) and Muhammed Ali were/are the G.O.A.T.s of their respective sports! It's a damn shame these current NBA defensive stats were not officially tracked, nor all the games televised.

I think you are on some point the perfect NBA youtuber, because we often forget about the past and how good some players were, however you are not an old head that blatantly say “Oh Wilt or Bill would KILL everybody on todays NBA” because you also enjoy todays NBA and the players and acknowledge their skillset and potential. You, Jimmyhighroller and Swishout are by far the best NBA content creators. Good job man.

Bill Russell, one of most underrated NBA players ever. It seems like the mainstream sports media is always trying to write that man out of history. He is third on my personal all-time greatest NBA player list after Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and one could definitely argue for him being number one.

There’s a weird perception amongst younger fans who praise wilt Chamberlain and how dominant he was while calling him the GOAT and yet Bill Russell gets shamed for playing in the league that was mostly “plumbers” as well as always being the best to guard Chamberlain and it shows the lack of knowledge amongst younger fans. Keep the videos up so you can educate fans who don’t know the history of the game

Bill Felton Russell is the best team athlete ever. Most folks are deluded by sports talking heads so most don't know. Thanks for the video, next time, may I suggest you bring a video on how Bill learned the game in high school then won 1 or 2 chips before his high school prom. I love your channel.

When ranking Russell I always factor in the lack of these awards in the 60s. The 11 rings are very impressive but are not his only strength. I think most people would rank him higher if he had Finals MVPs, DPOYs, and All-Defensive Teams to his resume and blocks and steals averages to his stat line.
