Great review as always RedKite. Despite the push buttons feeling like they came off an 80s calculator, it’s hard to find fault with the Top Gun MIP. With the extra MFD buttons, and the addition of the Take Off and Combat panels, you can pretty much fly without a mouse. It’s a real game changer. Well done WinWing.

Man I just love who smoothly spoken you are in your videos... I just watch just to Also your topics are spot on... touching the setup in VR and comparing lineup and scale was important and clever!

For anyone wondering, the generic name for the rail mounts is called 80/20. (Sometimes just called t-slotted rails of your buying off of McMaster.) There's a bunch of different sites that sell their own variety of them in multiple styles. The stuff isn't necessarily cheap, but I can guarantee it's cheaper than buying pre-cut kits advertized as being specifically for joysticks and the like.

The one thing you'll need if your buying the longer stock rails, however, is a bandsaw. That's the easier method imo. Aluminum is super soft though, so something like a tablesaw or similar should also work just fine without having to buy any special blades, provided you're not frequently cutting aluminum.

On the left and right side of the panels between the buttons those black bumps are actually buttons as well.

Definitely tempting...it's a fabulous piece of kit.

Many thanks for the thorough overview, especially important things like how many USB ports this device will take up. The "does it play Doom" test was a nice touch too!

Made the framework myself using the winwing online construction guide. It was extra rewarding that way and about €100 cheaper.

Winwing now have an Australian, Canadian and European store aswell so no more problems with taxes and shipping.
The mfd goes for €52 each and the ufc for €182. No extra costs. I just love it.

Since I fly vr i just gotta find a good way to line up my virtual hands with my real ones so things align better.
Any tips are welcome!

(Now got ultraleap motion kit, but that is too limited in alignment).

Yay! The review I was waiting for!

I love that you answered the most important question about them. "Yes, you can play Doom on it." 😂😂😂

I own the full kit too. After some fine tuning I got everything working in simapppro. I had to rotate the sceens into portrait mode though cause they were all being displayed sideways. I am hoping simapppro is compatable with dcsbios which i use to make my other f-18 simpit equipment work.

So cool! I can hardly wait until affordable home augmented reality goggles (where you see your real hands and physical cockpit) and see the simulated scene outside the cockpit are available. Having affordable cockpit hardware like this sure seems like a step along the way. (And I would love to buy an affordable augmented reality system that is turnkey! I.e. spend more time flying and less time integrating hardware/optimizing my rig.)

Good job. Although mostly just a summary, it's much more helpful than the GR review :)

For the gloss finish you could add some matt sticky plastic I suppose, like a screen cover for a mobile. Perhaps that liquid stuff?

Excellent review. First time i heard about enableling more that 32 buttons per input on BMS. I always thought that it was fixed to 32 buttons. It´s great to know that for my buttons box that i´m building using Arduino. I will need to do some tests.🤔

Do you have the full dimensions from left to right total of all the panels? Also, from the desk to the top of the middle panel? There doesn't seem to be any dimensions on their website, which is weird...thanks!

I know the usb c 5 volt on the display is optional but if used what does it do?? don't want to try it and kill my display panel, I just finished setting up the Top Gun kit today.

Even if you're using VR, entering waypoint and JDAM PP coordinates with this is going to be a breeze

The winwing trailer of this show a f16 attachment for center console and I don't find it anywhere else. I was curious about it because f16 is my favorite plane
