North of England Brass Band Championships 2020

Well, it's been touch and go whether this years North of England Brass Band Championships would go ahead, but, it's full steam ahead for the norths banders. We at Trimdon Brass are relieved of the decision to go ahead after months of hard work from the players and MD Will Harrison, that we can perform Endurance by Andrew Baker at the Durham Gala theatre on Sunday the 15th of March.

Endurance is a set of ‘narrative variations’ for brass band inspired by the story of Ernest Shackleton’s epic journey across the Southern Ocean in 1914-16 and takes its title from his doomed ship, which was trapped and crushed by the Antarctic ice early in the expedition. Shackleton’s crew ensured unimaginable hardship in their attempts to survive and get home, culminating in Shackleton and a small group undertaking one of the most remarkable, dangerous and heroic open boat journeys in history, covering 800 miles of the Southern Ocean to seek help.

The band committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all of its players who have worked so hard these past few months, in and outside the band room. Well done everyone, what a team!

A special mention to our very hard working and committed MD, Will Harrison. Will has gone above and beyond any expectations as a Musical Director. He has spent countless hours studying the score, extra rehearsals and most of all, his incredible selflessness of giving each individual player a one to one session to work on their part. This involved will spending several whole sundays at the band room, truly a remarkable and generous sacrifice of his own time. In addition to this, Will also shares his time as Flugelhorn player with the Felling Band, Thank you Will.

We are also blessed with having such fantastic supporters, some of whom act as chaperones for our younger players, Thank you so much everyone.
