Asha ~ Gloria

I originally composed this ’Gloria’ for an early album of mine called “Amadora,” released by New World Music. As an independent artist, I later edited and re-mastered this version for a vocal compilation album called “This Love”. It also appears on a double CD of ‘greatest hits’ called “Forgotten Language of the Heart” (which covered the different musical styles I’d explored up to that time). My ex-girlfriend, Sharon Sage, sang the female ‘Gloria’ here, and she also sang on another early spiritual track I composed and recorded called ‘The Missa Greca’. Sharon was an art student when I first met her, (and I was at University studying English and American literature), and was the daughter of literary parents who actually taught me at Uni, and she had this pure, untrained voice which felt just right for the piece.

“Amadora” was produced with a friend called Anthony Phillips, originally a founder member of the group Genesis.

My filming and wayfaring companion Gloria and I (no relation… or is she??!!) took the footage in three different and fabulous Budapest churches… the Szent Anna Templom; the Arpádházi Szent Erzsébet Templom & the Fasori Evangélikus Egyházközség Templom.

This prayer by Padre Pio is what I wish to say with the piece:

“Stay with me Lord
For I desire to love You
Very much,
And always be
In Your company…

I love You
And ask for
No other reward
But to love You
More and more…

With all of my heart
While on earth
And will continue
