So it has a great narrative, but too many cutscenes FOR the narrative to be great, right IGN? This is the greatest review of the 'Remeastered' version I've ever seen. LOL

That's like me saying "oh the story was great, but I didn't want to see the cutscenes that tell the great story." Makes perfect sense!

I'm a huge fan of Valkyria Chronicles. This is one of the best looking PS3 games, and still holds up amazingly well today. I bought the Japanese version released at the start of the year from Sega's Japanese store and will again be buying the English physical.

The PS4 version is merely a port, but it does benefit from running at 1080p and 60fps. The biggest difference though, is the load times, going from sometimes as high as 12 seconds to about 2 seconds.

I hope that Valkyria Chronicles Remastered will sell better than the PS3 original in North America. This game deserves strong sales. I'm really hoping that someday Sega will see fit to remaster the PSP games, especially the third game which was absolutely amazing. It would be great to see that on the Vita at the very least.

voice acting was far superior to most localized jrpgs, actually, and is very well done... to knock it for that reason and having too many cut scenes is a bit ridiculous. if anything, i would knock the game for its random difficulty spikes and challenge inconsistencies that occur here and there. still, it is a very good game and one of the best ps3 titles available.

Greatly improved and faster load times, 60fps, all previous DLC on disc, Japanese voices option, trophies, a reasonable $30 price tag, a really good looking steel book (for first print editions) and the ability to play an incredible game should be enough to talk almost any gamer to purchase this game.

One if my favorite games for the PS3, which I own 2 copies of and I still bought this new for the extra content.

"Bad voice acting" and "Too many cut scenes." It's an anime show as well...there's a lot of story to tell. A really good story at that. And change the voices to Japanese with subs? Problem solved. 10/10.

Valkyria Chronicles stood the test of time, after all these years it still looks beautiful!
Still have my old VC1 on the PS3 blu-ray disc and keeping it safe.
On my PS4 its one of my most taken care of discs.
I'm never going to sell both of these copies. I love them too much to part with them.

The characters, the gameplay, the setting/world, the voice acting (I think it's great for a JRPG)... all top notch. Loving playing through this game for the first time on PC.

Day 1 buy for me - no questions asked - loved this on PS3, only game to have ever made me cry! Not even ashamed of saying that! Played it again on Steam and will do again on PS4 - if only they didn't release Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 on PSP, this franchise would have soared! Needs more love and hopefully Sony bring 2 and 3 to the PS4!

Loved this game when it first came out. Actually just got the remaster and I'm uploading the first couple of chapters as I type this. :) I don't know why they think that a lot of cutscenes is a bad thing. One of the main reasons I play the games that I do is for their stories.

Damn, they could have reached the 9.1 if they put in that extra bit of effort. Good for them for not stooping to an 8.9 (or an 8.8. god forbid).
