I know a guy who couldn't get his Aeronca to start so he opened the throttle a bit and tried again. This worked great and it started right up. It started up so quickly that he had to jump out of the way and got run over by not only the right wheel, but also by the tail drag wheel. Through the pain he got back up and ran after the plane as it headed toward the grass berm at side of the grass runway. He knew the plane would become airborne and fly until it ran out of fuel several hours later. He managed to jump into the plane long enough to push in the throttle. He was black and blue for months and didn't fly again until the next year.

He’s doing it wrong. You need too flat hands on the prop and then a short and sharp pull down. Then get out of there

i don’t think it was you, i think it was the plane itself, older ones don’t start the same as they used to, not all of them have new engines
