There are literally hundreds of thousands of "Assault rifles" in the US. Instead of driving up gun sales by trying to ban them; focus on mental health and school security.

Because those mass shooters weren't old enough to purchase handguns, and on top of that most mass shooting happen with said handguns. This disingenuous message is quite literally fear mongering. Oh but this ban also includes the most commonly used handguns as well.

What is a 'assault weapon'? I know of a case were two roomates got into a fight and one roomate grabbed the others 'cat' and swung it at the other roomate hitting him with it (killing the cat). A police report was made and written it was: Assualt weapon used: "Male Feline".

These politicians need to speak to actual service members who handle these weapons daily. Politicians don’t know what an assault weapon is. By their definition a pistol with a 6 round clip is an assault weapon. It is NOT.
