Carbon Fiber Material

Carbon fiber is a lightweight, high-strength material composed of thin filaments of carbon atoms bonded together in a hexagonal pattern crystalline structure.

It is made by heating a precursor material like polyacrylonitrile (PAN), rayon, or pitch at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen (a process called pyrolysis). This process removes non-carbon atoms and leaves behind carbon fibers. These fibers are then combined and woven into sheets or fabric and combined with a matrix material, typically epoxy resin to create final carbon fiber composite material.
Its also known as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP).

It's commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and sporting goods due to its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.
