i daily uploaded short form for 6 months. the main thing i think for retaining audience and if u want to transition content is to put more personality and make the videos funny but if ur really consistent it evens out. also making short form content is only easy to some extent, getting on everyday to get clips think of video ideas editing make thumbnails and titles isnt easy. especially the video idea.

Ye consistency and quality is what makes us grow but sometimes it's on luck too as if what equipment u got, like i got shitty stuff so i struggle a lot

A few things id like to point out:

1. some people are saying it was obvious it was me since the channel name was "nothuzuni", which I do agree with to some extent. there are a lot of channels that kind of impersonate me that do shorts and when I first made the channel I figured that naming it "nothuzuni" wouldn't be an issue as it wouldn't stand out. I still would have used the same editing style/shaders/thumbnails just to keep the quality high but looking back I do think I probably should have named it something unrelated.

2. I told the second owner of my discord about the channel I had made that I was daily uploading again on without emphasizing that it was supposed to be for a video and that I didn't want people to know it was me. However he pinged in my discord and linked the channel in an attempt to help me out. I deleted it as soon as I saw the message which wasn't long after. This was around day 4. I checked the channel analytics and only a small percentage of the subs/views from that day came from traffic outside of youtube recommendations, i think it was around 20%. Definitely a fuck up on my end and it affected the growth of the channel but not drastically enough for it to flip the entire challenge on its head (especially with the growth from days 5 onward, which was 100% algorithm driven)

3. i don't think the argument that people would have subscribed to this channel because they thought it was me is valid because anyone can replicate the aspects of the videos that would make someone believe that it was me. thumbnails, hand cams, editing styles, everything that would hint toward it secretly being me could also be used by anyone else

Overall I do think this proved my point of effort > luck but there were a couple road bumps lol. just wanted to be transparent.

I agree with what you said, consistency is key to youtube and quality

I watched one of your videos, when the experiment was happening. I didn’t even think twice. LMAO

i think your skill helps a lot, because that is what people want to see
i feel like sometimes people’s videos spill into the algorithm, and some of the ones that deserve to be noticed don’t get noticed. i feel like this is unfair, but it’s the youtube algorithm, so you just have to put out quality content in hopes of making it
keep going huzuni <3

These videos were definitely high quality but I bet a huge part of the rapid growth (newcomers clicking) came from the titles using big creators. You definitely already had a huge head start from connections to Ricefarmer, Minemanner, etc. and that's not something you addressed in this video.

A really skilled but very new shorts youtuber would not have these connections so it's a bit unfair. Then again, a no-name channel really needs some initial boost/exposure from a bigger channel anyway, so perhaps that's what the "luck" is- are you blessed by the bigger creators when you are still small.

It's actually true. My channel got to 7k with nothing but luck cause one video I made was related to a subject that occurred due to a cheating bot invasion in an online game and after that ive been losing subscribers. So yeah, youtube is nothing but dumb luck and nothing more. There's no secret, no tricks, just dumb fucking luck.

I say, this test isn't accurate for two main reasons :

- the channel "nothuzuni" uses the already popular status of "iusehuzuni", people recognize that it's you even in the way you make thumbnails therefore nothuzuni starts with a massive advantage with your own subs flooding into this new channel
- you have the occasion of playing with other popular content creators, abling you to have an even greater reach, something that a standard new channel doesn't have

I love these new types of videos! Excited for your future! Much love ❤️

Also if you are going to make longer types of videos with parts like these, try putting time stamps in the description

Ryan Trahan's series is a perfect example of consistency and quality

I totally agree! I tried to upload daily shorts… But it was so much harder than I thought. Uploading for even two days in a row was SO difficult. This is why i respect you

I think you did have an advantage when growing your channel from scratch because you played with well known pvpers that help with the algorithm
