Sage should be in every garden - it's so versatile, hardy and drought tolerant. In this video I share with you the many uses of sage in the kitchen, for your body, in the garden, and also how to simply take a cutting to grow more. I show where it is happy growing and how it can be integrated into your garden design.

'Parlsey, sage, rosemary and Thyme' go together well - in the garden and in the kitchen.

THE USES OF SAGE
Here's some uses of sage to try:
Sage in salad - a couple of leaves finely chopped add great flavour into a salad
Sage vinegar - pop a few leaves into vinegar and use as a salad dressing
Sage infused oil - a few leaves infused adds great flavour to all kinds of cooking
Sage tea - a few leaves in a teapot or plunger for a relaxing drink
Sage bath - a bunch of leaves in a warm soothing bath
Sage hair rinse - make a rich tea, allow to cool and use as a hair rinse - to darken and strengthen
Sage a ground cover - this perennial grows in the hot sun and can protect the soil and create little niches for other plants

Love my sage! Try this dip: 1 can or 2 cups cooked cannellini beans, garlic to taste, salt, lemon juice, a little cayenne, a little olive oil and fresh sage leaves. I put in maybe 10 - 12 leaves, or more. Blend in food processor, adjust to taste and dive in. Leave it thicker to use as a spread. We cant get enough of this!

Love fresh sage & lemon verbena tea.
Add chopped sage to a pan of olive oil, washed&sliced wild foraged pine mushrooms, tiny dab of crushed garlic.

I’ve made hardcandy out of them with honey to help in the flu season, also sage tincture by soaking it in vegetable glycerin. Feeling like a head cold or muscle aches, sage tea with a bit of honey and milk can do wonders overnight and will aid in a good night sleep as well. When it goes to seed I catch the seeds as soon as the flowers are done blooming and the seeds are visible, it will have hundreds of them and they can easily be started again into more plants or to give away as small garden gifts to others.

We chop it finely and add it to panko breadcrumbs to use as a coating for all sorts of foods. My favourite is to coat eggplant or zucchini and then shallow fry in a little rice bran oil. Delicious!

Best remedy ever for excessive sweating and hot flashes, as it cools the body. Works best if you cover dried leaves with apple cider vinegar in a bottle and leave it for 3 weeks, shaking the bottle every day. Then have 3 tsp a day, diluted in water.

It's too hot in Texas right now and all my plants keep dying. I got an indoor garden tent and I'm gonna grow sage. I'm excited because not only is sage beautiful, I'm excited to try it for the benefits of health

how fun sweet lady. i just dug up my sage in a very wet spot. it has been a trooper in that it still lives. i put it in a pot yesterday and set it close to the house incase it rained. well, whattya know thunder storms now 24 hours worth of rain. now the little baby is in my kitchen in its new temporary pot until i find the perfect spot in the garden. it is fantastic you are talking of sage so far away while i am in south mississippi thinking of my own little sage baby. i love it. thanks for being encouragement on my planting spirit journey.

Hi! I just discovered your channel and I am hooked and inspired! THANK YOU for all of this wisdom you are sharing!!!

I drank sage tea when I was weaning my daughter. My breasts were engorged and only getting worse. Cabbage leaves were refreshing, I was told hold cold showers help & massaging peppermint tea… but none of these helped reduce my milk supply. Finally, someone shared about drinking this tea. By day 2 I had relief! I don’t know what I would’ve done without this… I have a small pot of it at home now and can’t wait to plant it for continual uses as you just shared, mahalo Morag!🙏🏽😊

Such a lovely video! For years when I would make a turkey for my family on Thanksgiving I always seasoned it with the famous combination 🎶 "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme" 🎶. For me personally you're the only other person I've heard of that cooks with the sweet suggestion of Scarborough Fair.🤗 Best turkeys I'd ever eaten and many compliments! I eat only what grows from the earth now so no more turkeys in my oven.💚 Morag, please continue posting and sharing your ideas. You inspired me through your gentle ways to do no dig gardening. I enjoyed my gardens so much. I recently moved to another state in the U.S., starting over in the garden ... so in the middle of winter I've started a kitchen garden and faithfully feeding my compost pile and laying cardboard out to gently take the grass away in the spring to plant my heart out. I love the idea of not disturbing the topsoil. ❤ Longing for sage and so many beautiful herbs and veggies to grace my garden once more. You're a powerful influence in the gardening community. I've shared most every post I've seen of yours as I find them to be easy listening in addition to inspiring. Many thanks!

I absolutely love hearing you speak. You seem to have the perfect quality of a teacher. Effortlessly, I was able to absorb all the information you provided. And you made me smile a few times. Thank you for sharing a piece of your garden with me. I am a relatively new herb enthusiast. Sage is my favorite of all...so for this video I like and subscribe. :)

My poor sage is about 2 inches tall! I love to hassle back butternut pumpkin and stuff the slits with sage and bake. Mmm

In the Tuscany, we make Anchovy stuffed deep-fried sage fritters. Ever tried it? Amazingly delicious. Use two sage leafs for each fritter. Little piece of anchovy in the center and dip in a simple egg/flour batter to deep fry. THAT IS if you like Anchovies, most people do not. I didn't know I can replant a snip. Thank you for THAT info. Going to do THAT right now!

We are currently re-designing our urban permaculture community garden in Barcelona and will for sure extend our herbal and medicinal plant garden beds. These herbs and plants are so giving and useful for our own live's, our well-being, etc. Incredible! Thanks for sharing these tips.
