Doddy thanks for sharing my ATX 970. I put 14.5 miles on it today in my local state park. Rock Cut state park and it really brought me back to the good old days. The breaks are terrible, the handling is awful, grip of the tires is almost nonexistent but wow what a throwback. I have to say to all your viewers if you’ve never rode a retro bike definitely give it a try if you have the opportunity. It’s not as fun as a modern bike that you can just monster truck over things and go flat out most of the time. My wife has the same bike but hers is a 1997. It’s a cream colored white with a polished aluminum rear triangle. Hers is all aluminum, mine is chromoly steel. You’ve inspired me to send in pics of hers too. I know your not a road bike channel but I could send in my 1984 Puch Astro-Daimler too if you’d like. I had no idea that you used to have the same bike, it was nice to hear you reminisce about it.

Hey Doddy, your more than welcome to give the Preston a Viking funeral. It won't take long for it to be back together as if I don't do it I'll lose the parts. I also have a Foes Fly (The first modern enduro bike???) with a Curnut, a Canfield 'The One' and a Maverick ML8 if you don't want to go 'Full Retro'. The Foes was the most efficient bike uphill I owned until recently. The shock is amazing, Brent Foes certainly knows suspension.

I would sport a shirt with the Deore logo on it. I think it’s very classy and only the true MTB’rs would get it.

I think Shimano were also involved in the K2 clicker snowboard step-in bindings. These were awesome for freeriding, we use to change the bindings over (front to back) so the release handles where inside you feet, then tie an old lesh between the handles and when upside down Inna snow hole you could grab the rip cord and release your feet. Though avoid the strap when grabbing the rails in the park else you land without your board. They weren't very stiff so become unpopular as parks become more popular for keeping boards away from skiers in the 90s

Only rcently heard of Canfield, getting their 155mm cranks shipped to the UK. Only ones I could find that take a standard chainring (SRAM direct mount) to fit a 28t (to match the shorter cranks), that also have a smaller axle (GXP) so I can fit bearings that'll last more than 8 months in my pf41 bottom bracket shell 👍

The Apple watch update from yesterday also has a good new feature, fall detection for mountain biking

Good to see the Spanish Stumpy supplying a yoke to switch the rear wheel size 👍

Been using the Whoop Strap for a few years now. Great tech if you're into monitoring heart strain and recovery which I am due to a heart attack. Good stuff!

Last of the big brands to make an e-bike, really, I would say that Yeti are more boutique and in that respect similar sized brands such as Ibis and Evil are yet to play their hand, from a personal point of view I was expecting more forward thinking from Yeti regarding their electronic integration, they have re-hashed their usp in designing Sixinfinty suspension but on the integration and adjustable future proofing geometry Specialized are still way ahead of the competition, and this is the opinion of a person who owns 3 Yetis!

Question about the Shimano book: does it have something about LX570? - recently I leared that it had not only parallelogram brakes like XT, but also a very cool black-gold edition. Unfortunately the Internet would rather sell or buy these parts than tell any history behind them

Sign me up for a Deore XT T-shirt. Ridden that stuff for ages. Never fails.
