I'm really glad you talked about the maple syrup types. As a Canadian from Quebec, from a family who used to produce maple syrup in small quantities, we know that the darkest the maple syrup is, the sweetest it is (because it's been boiled longer). Don't let yourself be fooled by a seller who's gonna tell you the lightest one is the ''clearest, best'' one (honestly he just wants to sell you the one which costs the less to produce). Some say the darkest ones come from the latest harvest, I don't know how true is that, but it's best to get one in the beginning of the season and that has been boiled more. That's it! :) Enjoy, looks delicious.

So I made this tonight and it tastes great! Has really a suburb sweet/tart balance and texture!
Was unable to locate fresh ginger in time, and I also used grade A maple, 'cause it's what I had...but my house did not blow up!
The port is a nice touch, rounds out the sweet elements...and had that on had.

I do think  a cup of walnuts is a little much for for the standard 12 oz bag of cranberries, 1/2 cup is fine.... but this is so good you could easily double the recipe with everything else and still not have enough of the end result to around!
Great recipe, gonna change the lives of those whiners in my family that say they don't like cranberry relish!

This cranberry sauce recipe has been my standard go-to since it was posted four years ago. I tweaked it a little to suit my needs (Despite living in the midwest grade b maple syrup is suprisingly hard to find), but it's always been a hit! Thank you, Chef!

Chef John, I made this recipe exactly as instructed and it turned out awesome. This is my very first time making any type of cranberry sauce and it was a hit at thanksgiving dinner keeping in mind it was served to a family who knows their foods and taste. The grade B syrup was kind of a bi*ch to find but boy was it totally worth it. I can drink the syrup alone; although i wont, i will definitely use it as a natural sweetener for future cooking ventures!  Thanks for putting in the time and effort for these videos, I know you put in hard work making them perfect!

My roommate made this last year (sans walnuts) but with half an onion, finely diced, and port wine as well, it was quite good. Thank you for the recipe chef!

Always nice when people show their appreciation for the video-creator and recipe-sharing by FIRST!-ing etc and refrain from giving any comment on content whatsoever.
