Pit Boss Pellets are 100% wood fiber - no artificial oils or sprays are used to enhance the flavor or the aroma of our pellets and we are very proud of that.

At Pit Boss Grills, we welcome you aboard the Pellet Grill revolution. In order to understand all things pellet grilling and smoking, it's important to understand what fuels these innovative BBQ products.

Wood pellets are the fuel source of pellet grills and smokers. Pit Boss Grills hardwood pellets are made from 100% all-natural hardwood that is dried and ground into sawdust. The dust is then pressurized at extreme heat to create the compact pellets that are coated and held together with the wood’s natural lignin. Wood pellets are also known as the easiest fuel to use. They produce less than 1% of ash, so an entire 40lb bag of pellets will only turn into ½ cup of ash, which makes clean up a breeze. They also provide immense flavor without needing to think about babysitting the air to fuel ratio like with wood chips or chunks.

I just got my Pit-Boss Lexington today. I love it!
I chose PitBoss over Traeger due to my Uncle's recommendation.

I can see this explanation of "100% wood fiber" and "not an artificial oil" is a direct attack at Traeger pellets.
Considering most seasoned pellet grill users already know that ALL cooking pellets are 100% wood fiber, I would like to know what makes Pitboss pellets better than Bear Mountain or Lumberjack or Knotty Wood. Anyone with any experience already knows Traeger pellets are trash. How do you compete with the best brands out there, namely the 3 I mentioned?

Can the kind of pellet affect overheating? I used a different pellet that was given to me. The temp jumped from 225 setting to 260-270. Is this normal?

Why does competition blend come in so many different bags and what is the difference?

I have a vertical Pit Boss smoker which I am really enjoying BUT, I have heard that pellet smokers simply aren't capable of producing the same level of smoke flavor of naturally dried wood. IF this is the case, is there anywhere that you could point me to to understand why? Thanks!
