Fun fact: they didn't even get Eddie Murphy back to voice Mushu in Mulan II because he was already contracted to voice Donkey in Shrek 2.

Needless to say, I think Eddie was in the vastly better sequel.

Fun fact: Mandy Moore who voiced Nita in Brother Bear 2 would later go on to voice Rapunzel in Tangled. 😉

29:50 I believe the reason why King Louie didn’t show up was because of a lawsuit by Louis Prima’s wife that prevented them from using the character

I don’t care what anyone says. The Lion King
1 1/2 is a masterpiece and on par with the original movie. I liked seeing Timon’s background. The original songs, Diggah Tunnah and That’s All I Need are bops. Seeing Timon and Pumbaa meet for the first time and seeing their friendship develop is so sweet and charming, as is seeing them raise Simba after he ran away from his home. The jokes are hilarious. Even if there are some retcons and plot holes, it’s still cool seeing the first movie’s story from Timon and Pumbaa’s perspective. And I love Timon’s relationship with his mother and how she’s voiced by Marge Simpson!

King Louie wasn't in Jungle Book 2 because of a rights issue.

The character was made up by Disney, but he was named after (and based a lot of his caracteristics on) his voice actor, jazz singer Louie Prima.

Louie Prima's widow argued that the character was as made by her husband as by Disney. That's not an air-tight argument, but it did stop Disney from using Louie for a while out of fear of a lawsuit.
1) Tailspin was allegedly the show that inspired her to argue that, since Jim Cumming's performance as Louie copied Prima's voice perfectly.
2) Jungle Cubs had a different take on Louie to avoid comparisson.
3) Louie was not in Jungle Book 2, like the natives in Return To Neverland. Disney tried to avoid controversies.
4) King Louie was going to appear in House of Mouse, but was replaced by his twin brother King Larry (Jim Cummings voiced him differently from his original Prima impression).
5) Louie in the 2016 remake is as different from Prima's Louie as possible.

The Lion King 2, Bambi 2, and Cinderella 3, are the strongest Disney sequels in my opinion.

I have Bambi 2 much higher (like top 3) because it’s just so sweet and gives me all the feels. The plot is pretty paint-by-numbers but they do it so well that it doesn’t matter. The Great Prince actually has a good reason for being distant at first: stags raising their fawns is just not what happens in nature, but once he and Bambi start to bond he’s a very loving father. I love how the movie actually shows Bambi and the Great Prince grieving over Bambi’s mother’s death. Bambi, like many young kids, holds onto a shred of hope that she’s still alive and trying to come back to him, before he finally grasps the truth. The Great Prince tries to bury his grief and gradually learns through Bambi that they need to heal by remembering their loved one. The final scene of them happily spending time together as a triumphant song plays feels like the perfect segue into the second half of the first movie. Like, NOW you can have the “Let’s Sing a Gay Little Spring Song” scene and it won’t feel jarring at all.

By contrast, I have more problems with Tarzan 2 and The Enchanted Christmas than you do. With Tarzan 2, I really just don’t care for the Zugor character. His personality felt like a poor substitute for Kerchak, like the writers really wanted to do a story with Tarzan and Kerchak bonding, but knew that would mess up the continuity of the first movie, so they created this original character instead who also doesn’t care for Tarzan at first but then comes to like and appreciate him. And as someone who finds Kerchak a lot more interesting, that’s a real shame.

I rank Enchanted Christmas much lower because I really feel like they got Belle and the Beast’s characters so wrong. In the original movie, the main reason that the love story works is that the Beast is the one who works to change his behavior to be worthy of Belle. She doesn’t set out to change him, and until he actively starts treating her a lot better, she doesn’t want anything to do with him. In Enchanted Christmas, we literally get Belle saying “I don’t know why I bother” when Beast acts like a jerk to her. That makes their relationship feel much more icky to me and it kills the strength Belle had in the original movie. On the Beast’s end, the part where he rescues her from the ice is just awful. He’s so mad after pulling her out that he almost steps on Chip (Lumiere has to yank Chip out of the way) and then locks Belle in the dungeon for disobeying him. No! The Beast in the original was never physically violent; he only took his anger out on inanimate objects. And letting Belle stay in an actual bedroom rather than the dungeon was one of the first signs that he could be redeemed, and even after she went into the West Wing against his orders he never punished her for disobeying him!

To end on a lighter note, this video was really interesting, considering you don’t care for the sequels in general. It’s cool to hear your individual thoughts on each one.

For why King Louie wasn't in "The Jungle Book 2, " you can blame Gia Maione, the wife of Louis Prima, for that. She held legal disputes against the company for unauthorized usage of his voice and persona in "Tail Spin, " even though Louie was voiced by Jim Cummings in the series and personas, like people, cannot be copyrighted.

The weird thing is that I grew up with 101 Dalmatians 2 before I saw the original 101 Dalmatians so its sequel is very nostalgic to me being one of my favorite sequels. I was a bit older when I first saw The Lion King 2 and I love it

Better than the live action remakes, that's for sure!

I got so happy when you said you liked the Aladdin show! Underrated IMO! You should totally make a vid talking about it or something. Your favorite episodes? What you liked and didn't like? The characters that should really be iconic but aren't lol I'll take anything!

I recently rewatched Lion King 1 1/2 and it’s not bad but I just realized that a lot of scenes don’t really connect with the first movie. I guess it makes sense that Timon made all the animals fall during “Can’t Wait to Be King, ” but my biggest issue is the final fight. In 1 1/2, the hyenas are more focused on Timon and Pumbaa while in the first movie, they’re within ear shot when Scar tried to convince Simba that the hyenas were to blame for everything. That just doesn’t make sense to me.

Well now we know what happened and why King Triton hates humans in the first place is because of his Queen’s death.

The great ones here are great of course, but I think Pooh’s Grand Adventure clears all of them, it’s the best direct to video animated Disney film they ever made. Dark, dramatic, emotional, bittersweet way to function as the series finale for Pooh.

I am glad that the sequel/midquel to Lion King are in the top 5. I was laughing at Lion King 1.5 with Pumbaa and Timon characters (as well as Timpn's Uncle Max). The sequel to Lion King has a really good soundtrack (especially Not One of Us and He Lives In You), plus Kiara and Kovu are just really great characters.

Good ranking Brian! Cinderella 3, Brother Bear 2, Little Mermaid 2, and Tarzan 2 are my favorites.

You had me at Peter Pan: Return to Neverland. Now part of me wants you to rank what Disney did for franchise based preschool shows.
