Whether you say Celtic or Celtic, you're not wrong! There are just certain ways to use the two words and our resident Irish speaker, Ciaran, talks about where both are used. Have a question about how to say something in Irish? Comment below and let us know! We'd be glad to help.

The "c" was pronounced "k" in Classical Latin prior to the advent of Ecclesiastical Latin. Languages change pretty doggone fast.

I`m a Scot, the only time I`ve heard the C of Celtic pronounced as an S, is in relation to the football club.

It came from the Greek word "keltoi" so it should be a hard K sound.

Is it considered wrong to say the name of the Boston Celtics with a K sound or is it only said with a S sound?
