Microsoft Edge came out in 2015 with the release of Windows 10. Today it arguably is better than it's competitor Google Chrome. But why is it not commonly used? Let's find out!

I've been using it for years (2020). It uses up far less RAM than Google Chrome and offers better perks than Google Chrome. It has been a far better experience on Windows laptops & desktops.

i think edge is mostly used by students because copilot is really useful for quick answers and split windows (also vertical tabs) are amazing for productivity and then there's stuff like startup boost, the amazing pdf viewer, and sync w/your microsoft account.

also microsoft rewards i mean free giftcards for browsing?

My problem with Edge isnt that it doesnt have features but rather the privacy concerns which is also the reason i dislike Chrome and Opera and rather stick with firefox

For me, Edge still cant escape the darkness trauma created by users who used IE in past till today .
from the day i switch from IE to Firefox . i never look back even slightest .

The reason it has only 5.31% marketshare is because nobody uses edge on mobile. On desktop, it has 14% marketshare, but Edge on mobile has only 0.3% marketshare according statcounter. This is the consequence for microsoft for giving up os phone market. Microsoft needs to return phone market with windows 12 that could run win32 apps

I used to love Microsoft Edge, but I'm so overwhelmed by Microsoft bombarding trillion of features that I don't need, and there's no way to disable them

Well I removed Chrome, and I'm extremly happy with Edge.

The funny thing is not only the start page of Edge is filled with random crap, Microsoft pushes that same crap to the Windows desktop, including news and ads.

the copilot pdf reader on the sidebar feature is a godsent for students and researchers, has singlehandedly split my usage between brave and edge

Vertical tabs are useful on widescreen monitors where you have planty room on side. Also they can be set to stay opened.

I'm 63 and I've been using a PC since they came out. I started using Edge about 7 months ago and I really like it. I was using Brave for quite some time and decided to just change and check it out. I like it and I'm using it right now.

Uhh, on the Windows 11 subreddit, I recently came across a thread, where a guy was asking about a browser for W11, and many, in fact, said, "Just use Edge", so it's definitely not over, which I, frankly, strangely happy about

Microsoft should just give up on MSN department (and the ads that come along with it)

Ad revenue is miniscule compared to their other revenue streams anyway, yet MSN ads & its News feed of random gossips that creeps into all their products are harming their image.

It'd be great if Microsoft only focus on selling Office 365 like how Apple only focus on selling their devices, so they're free to make their product feel truly premium & maybe a bit more privacy-friendly than Google.

Vertical tabs are really useful for me cause I always have at least 50 tabs open and it's just impossible to quickly see names of those tabs with horizontal view
