SECOND JOKER / BAT VIDEO
It's FRIDAY, a week prior to release, I started to feel the pressure because I always try to have a video accompanying my RELEASE.
So now I need a video. After posting that BUTT UGLY joker on TWITTER so many times, and looking at the mp4s that Minimax created based on my UGLY BUTT HEAD JOKER character, my preference was to do anything else but make an UGLY BUTT JOKER VIDEO to accompany my song.
I created a storyboard, collected the CRAP I needed, lights, toys, basketball, visited my local Goodwill where I picked up the RED jacket, the checkered pants, and the green hoody. I stopped by the $ dollar store, got that RED BAT.
The masks were left in my apartment by my son who used to live with me. I painted his evil monster mask black to make it look more BATTY. The Hockey mask faced out my back window of my car for years. I was wearing those masks and trying to make the video when my neighbor was outside playing music from his car, LOUDLY “The Beat Goes On,” by Nancy Sinatra (Ya de da de da, Ya de da de de… greatest lyric every written).
Next was the filming. I ran through the list and recorded the shots, mostly one or two takes. One and done. Thank You, Next! It was raining and as soon as the rain stopped, I forced myself to get that make up on and get out on the basketball court.
Editing was brutal, but I stayed organized by putting the little vids from my phone into directories (CLOWN, BAT, HOCKEY, OTHER) and when each clip was used, I put it in a different place so not to get mixed up. I had a bad experience with CANVA, I decided not to do the lettering BANG! BOOM! and stuff like that.
It’s all serendipity, and it happens in my music a lot too, where I just seem to gravitate to what works for me. Lots of little things in there you might not see the first time around.
I dedicate the video and my new BAD acting career to my beautiful adult children who I love so much. This is for them, to never be afraid to: GET OUT of the BOX; be yourself; be who you want to be, no matter who will PUT YOU DOWN.
After playing the CLOWN, I realize I wanna be YOUR CLOWN, I’m only here for your ENTERTAINMENT. We’ll laugh through it all and come up the other side, not like some HOLLYWEIRD Wimpy pseudo-joker who wants to stop being Joker. Really?
