When someone texts you, do they just text you as normal or do they have to use the app? If your out of range on your phone.

Yeah, monthly plan comparison would be nice as well as a comparison of any differences in the emergency request (where it goes, what system it uses, etc).

Thinking of battery conservation, will I be able to send and receive messages on the app while in airplane mode? And does sharing location count as a message? Thanks guys, as someone who primarily uses my phone for navigation, you made it clear this is probably the better option for me.

The Zoleo, doesn't have the tracking but can still send a pin of your current location to someone, correct? I am also wondering if anyone has experience with the Somewhere system? A specs/plan video of the Garmin, Zoleo and Somewhere would be awesome!

Thank you so much. I am considering a satellite communicator. But believe me, I am so 100% electronically illiterate. I am a 72 year old lung cancer survivor with just one lung. I live alone with just my dog on a little farm near Fall Creek Falls Tennessee. I love camping and trout fishing but I love to go off-grid way back into the Cherokee National Forest bordering Tennessee and North Carolina. There is no cell phone service. But family and friends worry about this old fart being out there all along with just mother nature and the Bears. They insist that I camp in areas with cell phone service. Of course those areas are packed state parks full of people and screaming children and dogs. Not that I don't like children it's just that I like more peace and quiet and Mother Nature. My question is how easy is it to set this up when you first buy it connecting it to your phone and how do you do that? Is it connected to your phone via Bluetooth? Do you use your phone for all the texting and messaging that you are sending out to family or friends? I don't do a lot of Backwoods hiking. I usually stay fairly close to my tent and camping. I like your video, because you guys explained it much better than anyone else I have watched at this point. I am probably the old fart that would drive a young sales rep bananas at a retail store. I appreciate any feedback you guys can give. Thanks, .

Go Griz! Good ol' Missoula, Montana. I have really valued my InReach, but do notice that sending and receiving messages can be super slow, and the bluetooth frequently disconnects from my phone.
