March 3 Crowdfunding Round Up! ft Scholars of the South Tigris, Huang, Soda Pop, & An Age Contrived!

It's Friday. Time for another great edition of talking about all the new board games that launched on crowdfunding this past week. Not only do we have the usual Kickstarter crowd, but we've also got a few entries from Gamefound and as a special surprise, Backerkit makes an appearance! Scholars of the South Tigris & Huang are the expected big names but An Age Contrived has definitely made a big first impression too with a lot of backers as its funding has definitely done really well so far.

I don't know if that's what you meant but for Huang the exclusive minis and standees were just the 5th player faction as long as I know

Along with is getting 8 promos worth the shipping in "Scholars" one has to decide is it worth the constant delays from the distribution chain. Games will be sent and delivered faster if ordered directly from retailers.

Star Tycoon was an insta back, it looks tricky and interesting and fairly simple to replay in different way. For Encounters I'm still split, cause the shipping are almost 50% the cost of the pledge I aim which is not a great incentive.

6:05 Well, for me, Wayfarers looks WAY more interesting to me. It has engine-building of placing a die and making the action stronger - and then also building your civilization by adding cards - without the un-necessary added complexity due to rules overhead. The actions are simple.

Solo mode for Back O’Beyond was an after thought. Not part of the promotional emails or at launch. I cancelled after they added the mode as you know it was not cooked.

Hi Chris, great video. Unfortunately, Back O' Beyond went cancelled yesterday... Huang looks good for 3-4 players game. Not on my radar.

I admit I was interested in back'o beyond because the game play from darkest dungeons seems solid. I know they no longer work for the same company but all I can think about is my frustration over mythic games.
The only other game I have any interest in is Huang. Never played it before but as interested as I am I might wait for retail...

0:47 Just to let you know, I watch a Brothers Murph preview of Scholars of the South Tigris - and the game is very heavy, due to un-necessary complexity (IMO) regarding the mixing of colors and the color wheel. It could have been A LOT more streamlined. Wayfarers looks A LOT better. The rules overhead is A LOT less.
I really don’t think Scholars is going to be a game for you, Chris :( I am just being honest with you, based on the types of games which I feel you would like. This one just doesn’t seem to be in your wheelhouse.
