Unfortunately the competition concert of the Sinfonieorchester Basel on 4 March 2021 under the direction of Francesc Prat had to be cancelled at short notice due a positive COVID-19 test result within the orchestra. The jury, led by composer Michael Jarrell, judged the four works by composers Artur Akshelyan, Christian-Frédéric Bloquert, Eneko Vadillo and Oliver Mattern on the basis of the sound recordings of the morning's dress rehearsal and the scores.
