Kevin Smith Explains Why 'Dogma' Isn't Available Online

Almost twenty years after its theatrical release, Kevin Smith's Dogma remains arguably the most commercially successful film of his career -- but getting your hands on a copy can be difficult, and somebody finally caught up with Smith on Twitter to ask why. As it turns out (and as most fans of Smith's work probably knew or could have guessed) it has a little to do with the Catholic League, a little to do with Bob and Harvey Weinstein, and a lot to do with the economics of Hollywood at the turn of the century versus now. "Disney owned Miramax in 1999," Smith answered in a tweet.

This is one of the reasons that I dislike streaming services. Thankfully I own the original DVD and a Blu Ray and so I can watch it whenever I choose.

Just watched the re-release tonight. It was even better the 200th time! Used to own it on dvd but it as a lot of things have evaporated with time. BUT there is nothing like seeing one of your favorite childhood flicks like it was intended: On the big screen in 2:39:1 format.

I held on to all my releases I still have the signed original release box set from Kevin Smith signed by Kevin Smith, I have my Blu-ray and the very original DVD .

I've been offered insane amounts of money for them and I said nope
