I was laughing more than I should when the Pope throws the baby. Everything in this show seems to be well thought, so far. Very fresh nuance from a TV show.

Thanks for mentioning "All along the watchtower". I was trying my hardest to remember that name of the song that plays at the beginning when Lennie is walking past all those paintings with the flying comet. LOL. It was driving me crazy....

Actually I thought this was a more riveting episode but maybe because I watched it on my big TV last night. I'm so struck by the quality of the photography and filmmaking. What is different about the European artists is how they so delicately capture all of the nuance along with the comedic aspects. The scene of him visiting the hospital with the staff being cleared from the hallway by security and all watching from behind the doors is classic. Sorrentino also captures the Americanization of the Italian PM citing all of his poll numbers and hot button issues followed by Pius deflating his hubris with the ensuing discussion. The symbolism of the Bible belonging to Jefferson and in the previous episode how the tiara was recovered from Washington also reinforces the Euro American conflictions undecut by an American pope who behaves like a 19th century pope who never leaves the Vatican.

Based on your recaps & glowing reviews I'm definitely going to watch it after I'm done with seeing all the movies I want to see before the Oscars

Hey, James, I saw your review before I saw the actual episode. Once you started taking about the opening scene, I quit your video until now that I finally watched the show. I imagine you are from the eastern time since I'm from central time and I saw your review about two hours before the episode supposed here. I just want to say that I really enjoy your reviews. I feel identified with everything you say about the show. It has all kinds of emotions to it. There is humor, dark humor, sorrow, anger, a bit of surrealism, even... just a lot. I just wanted to ask you what you think about Tomasso? I thought that it was kind of sad that Lenny betrayed the humble priest into thinking he would make him a cardinal. I think that may mean trouble for Lenny. There is so much going on that I imagine anything can happen. I don't think sister Mary is celibate either. In an episode she mentioned to Voiello something about not knowing what love is. I think she probably had something to do with him and it even seems like she has something going on with Dussolier.

On another note, I wanted to point out that this show might grow into more popularity. I remember that I started watching Breaking Bad when it was barely on season 2 and I got hooked on it instantly. We all know how popular it grew almost overnight with the preceding seasons. It's almost like I knew there was more to be discovered if I was patient enough. I think this show might, in a way, be like that. Thanks for your review. It would be great to hear if you have any speculations or opinions on what might be going on in the present or in the future with the whole setting in your next video. Again, thanks for the review.

What are the blue glow things at the very end just prior to the suicide? Any idea what they are called?

I am with you! New sub here. Seems to me viewers are just lazy and don't appreciate smart dialogue that makes them think but want it all spoon fed. Sad...
