dji osmo action 3 user here, fell from a failsafe IN A MOUNTAIN 2 years ago, from like 20m onto rocks, still rocking to this day.

According the Australian consumer law, this is still covered under warranty. $500 for a durable action camera, you are entitled to a free remedy as you expect it to last at least 5 years minimum.

In the daylight, GoPro is unbeatable at the moment, but the unreliability, the lack of innovation and the fact that they never listen to us, the community, drove me away this year. I've been through 4 11 mini-s this summer, one i actually crashed into concrete, the rest just died on their own after a few packs of flying. Not to even mention that the replacement process is a hell compared to DJI. My last replacement took 45 days, while with DJI care, I got my replacement in 2 days. With DJI I never had software issues, no freezes, they just work. Thanks for coming to my TED speech. 🙋‍♂

I wish DJI still made the HERO SESSION form-factor. That was THE best form-factor for SO many different filming situations.

I own 20 GoPros but mostly old ones. I own all of them, including all of the variations from the HD HERO, to the HERO4 Session. I also then have several HERO5 Sessions (my favourite but very much discontinued), a HERO6 Black, and a MAX.
My verdict was that the newer you go, the more reliability problems they have. The GoPros I have are well over 10 years old now and all still work like new. Then when I got the HERO6, I noticed that it wasn't super reliable. It would overheat randomly and it would freeze up for no reason. And that was enough to throw me off GoPro. I loved them because they would survive anything. There was a GoPro HERO3 that survived being underneath a rocket launch failure and bathed in flames. It only died when they put the fire out with water, as the waterproof case had been melted away. But the video survived and is on GoPro's YouTube channel. Their 2013 cameras could survive THAT, but their new cameras can't survive a regular drone crash? Only bought the MAX as I decided to give them another chance. And while I like it and I use it all the time, the GoPro Player app is desperate for an update. So I'm not super loyal to them anymore. They seem to have forgotten why we loved them.

I adore my Action 5, but I can’t emphasize enough how much I love (and still use) my DJI Action 2. I genuinely hope DJI releases a newer version of it.

As an FPV pilot my GoPro Plus subscription has payed for itself numerous times. I don't mess around with warranty because drone crashes aren't covered and I prefer to call them and simply say "I broke another one, we'll need to do the replacement." Twice they've given me my replacement for free. IMO, it's a little silly to run the newest GoPro on an FPV drone especially if you fly freestyle. Buy a NEW Black edition from GoPro but go back a couple series to save money. GoPro plus will still let me replace my Hero Session 5. Unlimited cloud storage comes in handy too with these files getting bigger and bigger.

There is actually a word for this. _Enshittification._ It is often thought of as applying mostly to online services, but it applies to companies manufacturing a physical product as well. At the start there is an emphasis on quality and innovation while growing the brand. Later on shareholders gain control and demand maximum profits at all costs, and it's at this point that the company begins its slide downhill, as quality and customer service is thrown under the bus to maximize profit for the ravening shareholders.

I have never once been satisfied with a GoPro I’ve owned. I have the osmo action 4 though and use it in videos all the time. Great stand in for lightweight action

I'm using action cameras for 14 years. Used to be all GoPro but long switch to DJI. While also not perfect they are still way more reliable, GoPros are just too unreliable and the amount of footage I didn't get because a GoPro played up is criminal.

the very first gopro I bought was a hero 8, and on my very first crash with it, I didn't even dent the thing and it just went out like a light. The Hero 8 is also in the upper end in weight that people tend to recommend for FPV, but when I sent it in for replacement, they gave me the Hero 9, with no batteries or any other accessories. So all of the batteries, filters, and everything else I had for the 8 were incompatible. That, coupled with the fact that the 9 weighs the equivalent of a stone paver, I haven't really used a gopro in forever

The DJI O4 Pro system reached the level of quality that I no longer need any action camera on a drone.

GoPro messed it up. No Innovations since a decade. Same issues as always with overheating, loosing footage, locking up, not charging etc.and cumbersome controls-.The owner milked it as well and pulled millions out of it for himself
