VIDEO IDEA: Andrew, you should show us what the road has done to your guitars. Like damage and Jimmy-rig fixes. Also share your thoughts on guitars that you found as favorites through the journeys.

Sounds like a thick steak hitting the speakers & I brought plenty of A 1 1 1 1 1 for everyone

i think this idea (the pickup) is actually really cool and i wish more companies would take risks like this obviously its not going to be for everyone but theres always an advantage to being able to get brand new tones just some people wont have a use for these tones offered in their style of music

this week I went to a music store and tried out various seven-string guitars, including the Schecter PT7 MS Black Ops. Unlike typical multiscale guitars, the pickup on this model is not angled towards the bridge but is installed straight.

I have to say, though, that this guitar had by far the best sound of all the seven-strings I tested. Other models, like the Schecter Reaper or Ibanez, may have gone slightly deeper, but the PT7 MS Black Ops had the fullest, most brutal, and clearest sound, along with the best sustain.

Additionally, it was the most comfortable guitar to play. Has anyone else had similar experiences with this model? (Tested on Engl Amp)
Btw there was a an early Version of this guitar with an angeled pick up.

lmao i would think that you want the pup closer to the bridge on the bass side and farther away on the treble side. oh well... love the vid dude!

I snagged the 6 string version and am absolutely loving it! I do not have to worry about the slanted pickup in mine so I am good HAHAHAHA

doing a long term tour on both would be cool if possible. As someone that doesn't plan on touring ever as a guitar playing hobbist I like the aspect of how it sounds in a home recording situation the most but knowing the faults they may have on tour is still very good to know.

Absolutely agree about the pickup placement sound. Great example is Ibanez M8M, the pickup is really close to the bridge, and you can hear it.

I personally really like the sound of the middle-positionish placement. Reminds me of early djent tones

I love the non slanted pickup, I think it sounds unique and like a breath of fresh air.
It's meant for stuff that's a bit tighter than the Otto Audio plugin that's for sure, but it still sounded really good there!

That killer riff at 3:10? Couldnt resist joining your partreon specifically for that riff alone. Not to mention youre super awesome in general.
After a day of joining. I learned that riff and now I cant stop playing it. Lol

For real. Anyone reading this. Please support him and join. It's so worth it for only 2 bucks. He puts so much effort into it.
Which to me, goes to show how much he appreciates his fans.
Much respect.

I built an offset fanned fret flying V last year. It has a duncan JB (pickguard mounted). When I cut the passthrough for the pickup, I accidentally positioned it about 3/16" farther toward the neck than I had intended. I didn't even notice until the guitar was fully assembled. It looked a bit off from my drawing.
Anyway, I was about to unsolder it and make a new pickguard, but I tested it out anyway.
It sounds _really_ good where it is. It still has that percussive thump that you get from that pickup, but woolier and sweeter. It's like a whole different pickup.

agree on the pickup placement, it lacks the aggression when it is so far from the bridge

Bro, that riff between the guitar and drums at 2:45 is fresh as fuck!!! Especially at 3:00 when your moving your head around with it. 🤣

It seems like all of schecters that are multiscale use schecter pickups when they slant it with the bridge. I wonder if they didn't slant it with the Fishmans because of the overall length of the pickup possibly not being long enough to pick up all the strings very well. Just a thought.

They'd have to use a larger pickup to be able to have it cover all the strings if it were slanted and there's no 9 string version of the pickup afaik so they wouldn't be able to make an 8 string version with a slanted open core modern. Maybe that was the deciding factor on the pickup placement/orientation.

Demoing the 8string on tour us a great idea!

I like the long term try out idea for the 8. I'd like to see it in Edmonton!
