Sydney Derby XXV goes down to the wire

It just had to be Toby Greene.

With a brilliantly snapped right-foot goal inside the final minute, Greater Western Sydney's superstar captain has piloted his team to a remarkable come-from-behind win over crosstown rival Sydney at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.

In an enthralling Sydney Derby, the Giants trailed by 24 points early in the final quarter and then kicked the final four goals of the game to win 17.5 (107) to 16.10 (106).

What an absolute classic! Both teams put on a real show. Sydney got out to a four-goal lead in the fourth quarter, but GWS made a big, big comeback and it was Toby Greene who broke Swans hearts in the final minute. Dwayne Russell called a beauty. Prior to this epic, I wonder when he previously called a high-scoring thriller. I'm impressed by the Giants' charcoal clash guernsey.

The Swans just don’t have the mentality to strive to finish games or actually play well against Top 8 Sides and it just feels disappointing. The Grand Final scars are still prevalent and the injury pileup isn’t helping matters either.

I still think there’s a chance for the Swans to make Finals, but it’s going to be super difficult.

"intent, intent, intent" was Longmire's message at the pc. Well obviously intent doesn't win games if there's not impactful action to go with it. There needs to be follow-through and that's just not there. Inaccuracy in front of goal is the biggest symptom of this intention-action gap. IMO that comes with mental toughness, and that's clearly lacking and needs to be addressed.
