Not relating this specifically to John per se, but it doesn't actually take two to make a bad relationship. If someone is a clinical narcissist, or worse, then they are the instigator of a lot of manipulation and coercion and the recipient partner is by definition the victim of that - because they are being lied to on a second to second basis as well as carefully brain-washed into a trauma bond.
