In this video we will go over how to plan a flight in Microsoft Simulator 2020 and use VNAV constraints to help the Garmin G1000 NXi autopilot how to know when to descend and hit that waypoint perfectly every time! We take off from Bellingham WA and take a short flight over to Victoria BC using Live Weather.

As a super novice MSFS pilot, I've been wondering how to use the Garmin for anything other than seeing whatever default information it throws at me, i've found this immensely helpful. I don't know a whole lot about flight save from what I've learned in the first few tutorials of mnfs2020, and xplane, and tooling around places working on takeoffs, descents, and trying to maintain altitude manually. You've really helped me understand how some of this equipment works in the plane. Thanks much!

Finally, someone who doesn’t leave out details, after a few failures I find that most don't show important settings!
Now I can get back to work.
ILS landings were no problem, but I do have difficulty with this VNAV flight thanks!

thank you. A clear explanation of VNAV at last. Spent too long with the old 1000 gps that didn't have VNAV modelled so have been ignoring it for too long.

Remembering to move the altitude selector "out of the way" of the VNAV/vpath causes me so many overflights of runways. :D

Great video thanks I should try to use more Navaids such as RNAV instead of just using big lake over there turn left.

Excellent presentation. Thanks. Would be nice if Garmin would give a warning when the "Selected Alt" is higher than the VPath setting.

Best explanation and instruction on the G1000 I've seen to date. Good job! Wondering what you have for a rig? Your graphics are really good. Thanks

Thank you! 😊👍🏻

One question if I may - is there any reason to not use your lowest altitude (BOD) from the start - then allow VNAV to handle all the level changes while you manage the throttle?
Not having to enter each (lower) level in advance would be one less thing that could be forgotten.

I enjoy your work! 👌🏻

Hi! When your entering the FLC speed to climb to our chosen altitude is the another key or know besides the nose up/Dn button? Mine starts at 0 always and if I’m flying a Citation Mustang for example best climb is 170kt and thats a lot of button pushing. It doesn’t speed up if I hold it down either. 🙄

Awesome and clear tutorials that's for sure. However, I set up the vnav profile as shown but the magenta altitude beside the teal altitude on main screen does not show. I'm on the ground when I set this up if it helps. What's wrong? Do I need to be in the air?

Sometimes when I load low altitude ifr and select rnav approach in the ready to fly screen, ATC doesn't recognize it (tries to force a high alt) and my VFR map doesn't connect last waypoint to beginning of approach. Thoughts? Thanks so much for vids!
