I would've saved all my Basic Training paychecks so I wouldn't be broke on payday.

My first year in service I was a combat soldier in Vietnam in 1969. I would have saved all my letters that I received and would have kept a very good journal on my day-to-day activities as a combat Soldier. At 73 years old it's difficult to remember the details.... .

I’d divorce my ex wife before she got the chance to ruin my life, lost everything because she abandoned me and left for another man, Nows it’s just my dog, me and the world. She took everything…

Not try and be a tough guy, and take the 6 weeks off for multiple broken bones in my ankle. ended up becoming chronic and was responsible for me getting out. Sounds like bubble wrap when I walk up stairs :(

I would pay better attention to the first group of friends I made aboard ship.
Fresh newbies attract all the slackers, military haters, and bad attitude misfits first. They will drive your personal morale into the ground and make life hard to deal with. Find those with the positive/can-do attitude and you'll be much better off.
I recommend being friendly with everyone, but choose your friends wisely.

Nothing. I believe I did it right up until I tried to settle down but that took a turn for the worst but 10 years later, I’m afforded the opportunity of a reset, now I’m 100 times better than I was after basic💪🏿
Stay strong brothers, if a woman wasn’t with you before basic, stay single and get your coins up and invest as much as you can. The 1st ten years will be the head of you stick to your guns. Travel, date, have fun, most of all, get your passport and enjoy your hardwork 🇯🇲💪🏿🙌🏿

Regret nothing. Undo nothing. Life only goes in one direction... learn to love it all till the bitter sweet end. "Amor fati" - love your fate!
