--------

With more people looking toward an SUV as their next car, automakers are increasingly interested in producing an electric SUV.

Nissan has just become the latest to push its electric SUV towards production, revamping its IMx Crossover from two years ago into the Nissan Ariya Concept at this week's 2019 Tokyo Motor Show.

This concept, far closer to production-readiness than anything we've seen before, suggests Nissan is a year or so from bringing its next all-electric model to market.

But will the Ariya fix the issues that have plagued the LEAF?

If they don’t fit a liquid BMS, they might as well leave it as a concept only.

If they sell a low-end, stripped down, price leader version of it, can we call it the Ariya Stark?

Too soon?

Nissan Ariya Concept is a good looking vehicle, hopefully they will make it

If Nissan doesn't include active thermal management for the battery, I'm not interested. The 2nd Leaf should have had liquid heating/cooling for the battery pack. It shows that Nissan doesn't learn from their own mistakes.

Even if is not a off roader car.. is always good to have a all wheel drive for snow and rain! I can't wait to trade in my Nissan Rogue for a Ariya!
GREAT VIDEO!! 👍

Reports believe this Ariya is the crossover model that was shown to U.S. dealerships a couple of months ago. I have a feeling this concept is extremely close to the future production version.

Here are the dimensions of the concept if anybody care's

4600mm 181.1 in length
1920mm 75.5 in width (excluding mirrors)
1630mm 64.1 in
Wheelbase not reported

Other details

Range expected to be 480km(300 miles) EPA cycle.
0-100km(62 mph) expected to be under 5 seconds

The concept has a CHAdeMO charging standard

What I can't understand is why after almost 10 years since the Leaf was first introduced is it still the only EV Nissan offers? Nissan had the momentum at the beginning of the decade and then totally dropped the ball. Now the Leaf is lagging behind and trying to catch up. No wonder Nissan is having financial troubles not to mention the chaos going on in the C level management ranks.

Came close to buying a Nissan Leaf myself. The lack of active thermal management kept me from doing it. Nissan is losing EV customers by not including it.

Even the name SUV - it's always been "For Show" anyways...

Namaste! So happy to hear those egg cup seats are not destined for production. They look uncomfortable and I'll bet they are!!🏃‍♀️

Will believe it when we see test drives.

Off the subject for6 a moment... What is the efficiency of regen breaking? Is there a way to tell? I mean of the x kw power you put into your car going down the road, and how much of the power (either in kw or percent) do you 'get back if you slow from say 50mph to 30mph. Or 30 to 10? ... Thanks and keep evolving!

The front end looks like what the 2020 Ioniqs should have looked like.

Nissan should focus more on their current Quasgqai engines, my car engine did not even go for more than 35000 miles, though Nissan changed it, the second one is also almost the same thing. You should focus more on these issues

That roof line will limit headroom for rear seats, unfortunately I suspect it means seats so low your knees are in the air

I agree with comments below; if Nissan don't use liquid cooling, they may as well just shut up shop.
