I got my first rat 2 back in October. It's been a pedal that has lived on my board since. As an overdrive it rules. As a distortion it's awesome. As a fuzz it's great. Definitely my favorite pedal.

The first pedal to get me that heavy lead tone from Pink Floyd’s The Wall album. Love it. Gilmour used one too in the 80’s. It’s so much better than a fuzz like a muff. It cuts through and can even do a cocked wah sound with some experimenting. If you have a single channel amp, you need a Rat. Don’t go boutique until you have used this pedal. My favorite way to use it is to add in hard clipping to an edge of break up amp and then boost the Rat with a Tubescreamer for solos. British amp+Rat+TS=heaven

I used the original thin sheet metal rat in '81, and several years later I purchased another Rat, the Rat 2. Perfect for overdriving an amp with limited gain. Bite and sizzle. Just ordered another one after many years. A classic is a classic.

I've been a Rat user since the late 80s. One of the best pedals ever made. I loved what it did with my JMP, my various Fenders, Peaveys, and so many amps. It's got a very natural, organic, chewy kind of distortion.

I have the '85 Whiteface Reissue and it is a monster. I have considered getting a new Rat 2 as well just to compare them and possibly have two set up differently.

Getting my RAT today. can't wait =) My only other actual distortion pedal is a BOSS DS-1 so i'm going to do a side by side comparison with them both.
