[EXCLUSIVE] MTA MaBSTOA: First day of M125 Bus Operations! (With additional bus action) (6/26/2022)

NOTE: I didn't feel like fanning in the South Bronx since I was focused on trying to get the Bx25 before I had to go back home, therefore, all clips in this video are only in Manhattan.

As part of the Bronx Bus Redesign which just launched on June 26th 2022, the Bx15 will no longer run into Manhattan from 3rd Avenue 149th Street to 125th Street and 12th Avenue. In addition, the M100 will also no longer run between St Nicholas Avenue to 2nd Avenue. As a replacement for the two cutbacks, the M125 was created to run between 3rd Avenue 149th Street to 125th Street and 12th Avenue, replacing that portion of the Bx15 entirely. Instead of 4 routes mainly running along 125th Street, which were the M60, M100, M101, and Bx15, there are now 3 routes, all of which are articulated routes: the M60, M101, and M125.

Now a word from me, I will deeply miss seeing Bx15s in Manhattan more than anything that the Bronx Bus Redesign has already done. I grew up just 16 blocks north from 125th Street for the past 8 to 9 years now. Though I will admit this, with all of the memes and jokes other people have done saying that the M125 will be so empty with barely any riders, I knew for a fact that wasn't going to be the case at all, and I was 100% right. The M125 had over 50 riders today, and around 30ish to 40ish riders on its first day. Reason being is that with the help from many fanners including myself, posters on bus stops, route notices in the timetable bins, and most importantly, MTA staff at many bus stops, the usual faces confusion you would see when there's a 5 Train on the 2 line was easily reduced, as this means that riders who usually take the Bx15 from Manhattan to the Bronx are now forced to take this new route since it follows the same pattern. So, I will say, thanks to the MTA for handling passengers well on the new M125, and hopefully people can newly adapt to the change. Though for fanners like me as I already mentioned, I'll definitely miss seeing Bx15s in Manhattan.
