Dr. Cervantes: So what's the difference between a pediatric dermatologist and a regular dermatologist? Pediatric dermatologists actually go through a separate fellowship after residency where they focus just on kids. Any dermatologist can see children of any age; usually everybody does. Some people have a preference not to see little kids, but anybody can see the little kids. Now, we are very good at referring out to pediatric dermatologists if we feel like this condition is something that goes above what we're normally used to treating, but for the most part, everybody sees kids and we're always happy to do so here.
