9 Options to stock your LARGE aquarium - Fish Stocking Ideas for 125, 150, 200 gallon tanks and up

Recently I picked up a 200 gallon aquarium, as I have been getting it ready it started me thinking about all of the great stocking options available for a tank this size.

6 foot, 7 foot and 8 foot aquariums are so versatile and can house such a range of fish that the options are basically endless but hopefully this video provides at least a starting point.

My favorite tank ever was a 90 gallon planted tank. It had 24 Cardinal Tetras, 6 albino Corys, a Royal Pleco, and 2 pairs of German Rams.

I keep rummynose and cardinals in my 150, they're a lot smarter than you think, and depending on the sump setup, minimal danger to making sushi. I've only had 2 rummynose travel to the sump and they just hung out in the filter sock section until I found them when doing my weekly waterchange.

The 100 I was taking care of for my late grandmother has guppies galore, fry do end up in the sump (which is only 1 chamber, so the pumps are not sectioned off) and the babies just grow out in the bottom and when they achieve a large enough size get put back into the display. I wouldn't sweat that too much!

You do have a point about the price with the nano.... buuut just think that means you can always come back from the pet store with another 6 fish... just start with like 20 of one species and then just nickel and dime your way up...

Just got a new 135 gallon myself going to do a Tanganyikan community good school of cyprichromis some rock dwellers maybe some feather fins or sand sifters

500 green kubatai rasboras, and 2000 cherry shrimp, lots of plants !

I have a 150G (5x2x2) heavily planted (all Central and South American plants) "Amazon" tank.. About 24 Cardinals & Neons, 8 Emperor, 8 Green Fire, 12 Rummys, & 8 bloodfin Crystal Tetra with 8 Stripped Silver Dollars, 4 Bristlenose, & innumerable Sterbai cory, Ottos, Red Cherry and Amano shrimp. The shrimp aren't South American but I love shrimp. Sounds overstocked, but really doesn't look it, and not having issues.

Just picked up a 2m tank for my garden. Going heavy planted, got rainbow shiners n cherry shrimp with a tonne of snails. Waiting on gold ring danios.
If i can hold good temps over winter (running on solar) will try more high tech setup next year

Check out Oscura Heterospila (Montecristo Cichlid). They are a vieja type fish, but generally very peaceful.
A group of those in a big tank would look amazing.
