So, I just got the i3 today from American Musical Supply. I must say that I am impressed, especially considering the cost of the instrument. I have been playing with it for about 4 hours, and have already set up multiple Set Lists and am planning on using it as the bottom keyboard in my live rig on Saturday with a band I am in.


I have been playing for well over 40 years and have many different synths/keyboards in my studio, and I like this unit. I have many Korg synths in my studio, including the PA700, M50 and Kross 1-61. I will try the MIDI implementation tomorrow (5-pin connection) and make sure it plays well with the gear I plan to trigger with it.


It is intuitive, easy to use, and a breeze to set up. I may not be using the sequencer in it much though, as I was looking for more of a performance board and I think that this will fit the bill and save my back from some of the heavier stuff I have to bring to a gig.


I also play at nursing homes for a living (about 50 performances a month) and this may be the perfect backup keyboard if I ever wanted to leave the PA700 at home (or if it ever had to be repaired).

why it is calling "i3"? There is already a Korg i3 from the nineties... this makes the confusion perfect. The same with the new Korg CX-3. Why did not call it CX-3 II or something?

I have the priginal Korg i3 released in the early 90s ( upgraded with an internal HD by Musitronics) ...still works perfectly. I´ll probably get this one to have some modern sounds.
