Finally someone who`s not constantly sayin, the 5 year old AC is better than everything. This comparison shows it: PC2 does nearly everything better than AC. Of course its buggy as hell, but PC2 release was just a week ago. Thank you for this vid.

Thank you for the honest coverage Sir! It occasionally requires a little bit of bravery these days...

Nice comparison. What I can add is that in AC it's VERY important to have ideal tyre pressure. Yes, it's important in any sim, but seems that PC1/2 has a wider range and the stock setup works fine. While in AC stock pressures sometimes are wrong. Please check that in next comparison. Maybe even better to have the same tyre and the same pressure? Thanx.

People seem to love to see all the good things about pCARS 2 just to bash other sims, but when you can accelerate in a 800+ hp Group 5 monster in the rain in second gear without wheelspin in the game, no one bats an eye.

thanks for another comparison Alex :).
Im wondering if the 1m is a bad car in AC tho, even with TC and Stability control on it still flails around like a cat covered in box tape. The 1 series with the m spec suspension parts (not the comically bad msport kit) handle extremely well. I think AC has this car a bit wrong!

You made a great point at the end of this clip. "You have to really WORK to break a car loose!" Among other things, PC2 is missing tire smoke, suspension, and while prettier wasn't as fun to watch in a replay. The screen also jumped around too much when you were drifting. It seems to take away from feeling the weight of the car, suspension, and seat.

When I play GT3 cars in most games I never feel like I can throttle out of a turn because of this. That feeling of entering a turn and waiting for the car to be straight enough to not spin out gets really boring. In most driving sims I much prefer driving the slower cars because you can feel everything. RaceRoom is A LOT more fun in this respect. The game just doesn't seem stable and has that hiccup when users join/leave. When iRacing occasionally put a sticky tire model on the Mazda is was nearly perfect. Then too many people would cut across grass. The cut penalties were too strong (often didn't allow for two tires on as it should.) The older open wheeled cars really came to live in PC1.

I gave up on iceRacing when they charged separately for both Nurb track versions. I did some multiplayer gaming with PC1, but it sure was buggy. I often felt that there wasn't enough room on the track (or perspective) to race closely side-by-side(which iRacing does well.) AC is still the way to go to jump on and race an FRS or M1. I still miss the passing and randomness of a GT5 shuffle room, and the random games people game up with; like the team races. I go back to the first version of Nascar that we raced with dial-up modems. Surprisingly enough Microsoft Monster Truck madness did an incredible job with physics and game play; other than the annoying commentator.

It is one thing to be a great sim and another to be a fun and addicting game. Too many people are happy to just go hot lap all day long. If someone can come up with this combination they'll make a fortune.

Sadly, the "street" tire in Assetto Corsa is not recognizable as anything in reality... Is it an all-season tire? Summer? Economy? Who knows! I think the street tires in AC are pretty nerf, so that might be part of it. The tire model in PC2 is certainly interesting though.

Freakin Awesome! That intro had me grinning ear to ear. I'm so happy for Project Cars 2. Gotta say though... even though I'm a PC2 fan boy, Peter M is right... the wheels are floating above the ground. Very immersion-breaking.

Looks so awesome how the car is floating above the track in PC2. :D :D :D

Fantastic review/comparison video +1 and sub.
Can I make a recommendation and ask a question....
Drop game audio by 5 - 10 db so we can hear what your saying.
And I am intrigued by your setup, can you tell us anything about it?
Thanks.

I am a huge fan of AC and played 1400hrs+ on it. With Pcars2, there is a competitor that has the potential to wipe AC out in terms of physics&FFB. I am feeling the same when I compare them -> AC feels like having few to none tyre flex which leads to the „accentuated“ direct oversteering. I also compared Nurburgring GP times with the 1M: 2:19:x (Pcars2) to 2:25:4x (AC). Seems a rather high difference to me. Guess I will try to setup the suspension to the same values and check again. My assumption is that in AC the standard setup is far more „street“-like whereas PCars2 has a race-setup (e.g. Camber angles are less than -2 degrees compared to -0.5 to -1.0 in AC).

I think the P-Zeros were definitely the right choice. In the Pirelli tire line-up, the P-Zero is the most "street" tire.

"A little oversteer, which is nice. But we don't want that now, cause we want to go fast" to my ear somehow sounded a lot like Lauda....
Love your setup btw..
Once saw a demo BMW that had see through screens on the inside of the windows (transparent when they are not on, opaque when used as screen) and all controls were electronically read out. Acting as a game controller.. 4 actuators at wheels to simulate g-forces somewhat (bit like the lowrider suspension thing but more controlled.. so the car dips if you brake etc).. So you could actually drive the car... park it .. race for a bit.. then continue on your journey.. Imagine being in a traffic jam. pull up at a gas station and just race for an hour or 2, then just go on your way again.. with way less traffic.. I usually go race when I get home from work anyway. Would work like a charm... ♫If i were a rich man ♫♫♫ ...all day long....♫If I were a wealthy man ♫

Great video. Did you apply the OEM setup by saving it? Because the negative camber both in the front and rear looked quite aggressive in the replay of pCars 2. And despite me loving pc2, the hovering over the track looked really cringe worthy.

Street compound in AC has no grip. Full stop. If you want to grip drive then use the semi slick.

Really good one. The 1M coupe is a handful in AC but as you show here AC is a skid/slide feast. Sometimes a bit to much. But I spotted a funny thing in this comparison. The tires of the car in PC2 in the replay did not make contact with the surface of the track, something I was really critically of in AC. To me AC felt like the wheels/tires were just an animation just like the body of the car. The real car was instead an invisible cube sliding on top of the track surface, obvious when some cars hover over the track or when you park on uneven surfaces, like one side of the car on a curb stone and the other on the tarmac. The cars would often spasm in AC. Something I never seen in PC1 yet here it is in PC2. Hmm.

Anyway, next car in the next comparison should be a light one.

I see the floating vehicle issue in replay has followed through PC2 too as seen at @9:36

Very nice comparison vid.
Besides tire selection, i'd also suggest trying to match the setups between the cars, at least the basic parameters i.e. pressures, toe and camber for starters and then suspension stiffness. OEM in pcars vs default in ac could be night and day...
I assume that you use the same assists in both.
Once again, nice one!

Do you use any mods for yur FFB? Or did you just adjust it in-game?
